Vince Young (unemployed)

Some of you bastards are fucking harsh, and I'm an asshole so that's saying a lot.

VY grew up around shit most of us did not. He could've ended up a helluva lot worse.

I commend him for getting out of the hell. I think we are commenting on the writing style and rambling.

However, you are definitely an asshole. But...I assume that's why you're here on BP.

Could’ve ended up a lot better but once he got out, he stayed an idiot. He’s far from the first kid to earn a scholly from football. Did he take advantage of a college education? His wonderlic says otherwise. He’s far from the first college kid to go play in the NFL. Was he smart with his money? Cheesecake Factory says otherwise. Did he fight to stay in the league? I could go on. He had multiple opportunities after his little sob story was over and he botched them.

After he retired, he said he would only come back for a guaranteed offer. Then he was hired by UT to a job that he sucked at, didn’t show up half the time and got fired for his poor performance after multiple warnings. He’s got multiple DWI arrests. He never grew up and that story ignores it.

I assume the story ignores HIS failings because he wrote it. You didn't expect him to own it now, did you?

That dude can’t write. C’mon. It says by Vince Young but one sentence in, you know it’s bullshit. The whole “This story isn’t about Vince Young” (while it’s really all about Vince Young) schtick is a little too clever for him. He just told the stories and the writer didn’t take Questions To Ask 101 at UT Austin, apparently. The story is more like an NCAA investigation of an SEC school.

NFL Draft Combine: The highest and lowest Wonderlic test scores ever recorded

Tied for third with Oscar Davenport and behind studs, Ed Prather (5) and Darren Davis (4).

6: Vince Young, quarterback
Vince Young also scored a 6 on the Wonderlic test. The Titans did not pay too much attention to the score and took him in the 2006 draft, third overall. Young won a National Championship during his time in Texas before entering the league, and the Longhorns retired his No. 10.

He was a two-time Pro Bowler, NFL Rookie of the Year in 2006 and NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 2009. Young was with the Titans from 2006-2010 before spending the 2011 season with the Eagles. He bounced around to a few other teams but never made the regular season roster with another squad.

Re: Vince Young (unemployed)

He's employed again....:roll1:

Vince Young returns to Texas Longhorns as special assistant in athletic department

Texas has rehired former Longhorns quarterback Vince Young as a special assistant in the athletic department, bringing the College Football Hall of Famer back to the program after he was fired in 2019.

He returns as the program is trying to build momentum behind new football head coach Steve Sarkisian.
.
.
.
After Young's NFL career ended and he filed for bankruptcy, he returned to Texas in a full-time, $100,000-a-year job as a career development officer in the school's Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. The job later became part time, and Young was eventually dismissed for poor performance and often being absent from work or not in touch with his supervisors.

Terms of Young's new job and salary in the athletic department were not immediately disclosed. Athletic director Chris Del Conte did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
