Vote Smith! (ESPN poll)

What amazes me is that the whole nation saw Smith outperform Quinn last year in the Fiesta Bowl, hands down. Quinn didn't even throw a touchdown. Smith, on the other hand, threw better than the "2006 Heisman," and ran the ball effectively, as well.

How do they still not get it, that Brady is not going to run away with this?

I dont wanna call it racism, but the nation as a whole perfers the white All-Amercian QB that is the typical gunslinging QB. Athletic QBs such as Smith, Young, Vick (Michael) dont get the props they ever deserve during the season untill they are able to show up great teams with their "unconventional" styles. The nation wants its players defined - QB throws, Runningbacks run. Very old-school style. Not to mention, they all have bought into Charlie Weis who hasnt done jack shit in college. If its a push between Smith and Quinn, at least ahve the common sense to revert back to the coachs. And clearly in the coaching list, JT ranks head and shoulders above Weis. Weis cant even start to compare to 5 national titles, 30+ drafts, plethera of All-Americans, 4-5 award winners, and 3-0 BCS bowl record. Therefore, IMO, Smith > Quinn.

Sure in some big games TS had better stat's but he OSU also had breakaway WR's to help those stat's.

I'll go out on a limb, and agree with you on this, Chief. However, Quinn has some pretty good receivers, too. And the fact that Smith has Ginn MAY end up hurting his Heisman candidacy, but you need a good quarterback to throw to a good WR.

You can't tell me, though, that because he has "explosive" receivers that this should diminish what he did in the Fiesta Bowl.

Also, I suggest that you quit bashing Archie. If I do recall, he's the only college foorball player that ever won two Heisman trophies. Quinn can win one at the most. And yes, Quinn may be a good NFL player, when his career is all said and done, but it's a virtual lock.

Honestly I don't get how you guys(Buckeye fans) are saying Quinn will be better in the nfl and is a better QB. Do some god damn research, I swear. Watch Quinn play, don't just beleive everything espn is telling you. I have hardcore ND fans that acually watch football and disect it telling me Quinn is overrated and that Troy will be better in the nfl(well if they are both givin the same oppertunities)

Quinn's WR. are what make him look good and pick up the yardage.
In nearly all of his games Quinn showed bad arm strength and bad accuracy. Go on watch some of his games, you will see. He isn't a bad QB, he just isn't nearly as good of a qb that everyone makes him out to be. He will occasinaly make a good read and move the chains. But honestly just watch the reciavers, they make nice crisp routs and have rather good speed, Yet they always end up having to go the extra mile and make some extrodinary catches. In all honesty you would have to be the worst QB to not look good in that team.

Most of the time his WR are WIDE open when the big plays happen, the other half they just make NICE catches by balls that should never be thrown.
Here just wach some of these ND highlight Videos

The only throw to me that was impressive was the one were he threw it in the middle of the feild with the WR absolutly burning the CB. The rest of his throws are ether bad passes made good by the WR or passes to a WIDE OPEN WR. Go ahead watch the tapes carefully.
Nothing to impressive in my mind if you know anything about the QB position.

Then is that video, all I see is just great routs and great Catches, but far from good throws.
Do some research people.

So we need to do some "god damn research" and not "just believe everything espn is telling" us......but you don't need to do any "god damn research" because you "just believe everything" your ND friends are telling you.

got it.

From an unbiased approach, its pretty tough to compare Quinn and Smith to each other because they're definitly two very different kinds of QBs. Smith is considered the best dual threat QB this year, while Quinn is considered the best pocket passer. They both run different offenses, and last year their defenses were about as different as they were. Quinn does have the advantage of the media hype going now, but Smith isn't far behind. Both teams can make big impacts at the end of the season to help their causes...OSU has Michigan to play, ND's final opponent is USC in Southern Cal. ND returns almost all of their starters and have replaced a few people on defense to make up for the loss of speed, while OSU has nearly a new defensive unit to put in (although full of talent because of good recruiting).

Heres a good comparison: Matt Leinart to Quinn. Leinart obviously had a little more talent at the time, but both teams did go to the final minutes of the 4th. On one hand, NDs last drive ended with Quinn scrambling into the endzone for the TD to put them up. Leinart torched our "great" DBs on a long 4th down attempt to get to the goal line, tried to run it in himself on 3 different occasions, but was stopped on all 3 attempts. The final attempt did eventually get him in however with the "Bush Push." Reggie helped his Heisman chances a lot on that play.
