Walsh vs. Ohio State 7 PM Tonight

I sure hope Matta plays a lot of guys tonite. I want to get an idea of what they all can contribute and if they stand a chance of being in the playing rotaion.

If they don't play tonight, they're not going to play
You know this is an exhibition, the one opportunity that Matta has to experiment with no risk whatsoever. In an exhibition Jim Boeheim even experimented with his team playing man-to-man defense a couple years ago (and lost to LeMoyne) and that team went on to earn a #1 seed and make the S16.

There are a few things - but only a few - to be learned from an exhibition game like this - you can finally know for sure who's going to start and who the first subs are. It could be a 7-man group, it could be more. It probably all depends on how many guys are taken out at the first substitution.

In the 2007 season, he subbed in four players at the first point where he substituted guys in. In recent years, it has been only one or two players. I think that is the key point to hypothesize the number of players in the regular rotation.

Sounds like DT will by far lead the team in scoring, and there will be a host of players who provide points behind him (ST, Q, Rav, AC, Scott, Zelle and Amir). Two things of interest that I pointed out before to watch were the starters. Matta had Q and Amir start the first half and Sam and Rav start the second. I guess he hasn't really decided who to start. But he did bring Sam, Rav and Shannon in during the first substitution, so I do expect him to go 8-deep this year regularly, and Trey will probably get some important minutes on an irregular basis due (whenever foul trouble strikes in the post).
