Awwww shucks, No need for an award for that  , I am sure somebody would have put two and two together eventually. I just know more and more people are using Hold'em for fundraising as I know of 4 big softball teams up in the Cleveland area putting together 100+ people tournaments to raise money so they can drink for free during the season!

But back to the main topic... I might be in if it will be a big game more in northern Columbus where then it would only be a 2 hour drive for me. I just offered during the football season because more people would be in town to watch the game so it would be more convienient to get even more people. Plus easier to explain to wives & significant others a reason to travel to Columbus. Of course maybe the Spring Game might be a perfect idea!

Sounds like we have enough for a small game. I like playing two games for $20, that seems to be a good middle ground. Higher stakes make the mood too serious and less makes it almost not worth the drive. Anyways, I'm down for whatever. I say we should PM FKA with our info if we're in. Next, does anybody know a neutral site we could meet for the first time? I think that would take some stress off of someone hosting a bunch of strangers. Just an idea. Well thats my two cents. I don't mind euchre, but I reserve it for killing time, hanging out with relatives, and I sometimes play when I'm waiting for paint to dry. Now canasta on the other hand..........

Oh to live somewhere near Colombus. Same deal goes for Chicagoland! I have a weekly game and generally attend a charity game at least twice a month. The players at the boats fear the day I turn 21

...maybe make it a BP fundraiser where there is a $50 + $10 buy-in with the $10 going towards BP. Get a good 30-40 people and a nice couple hundred bucks per home game for Clarity to upgrade the server :wink2:
I'd come out from Indiana to play in this if it were large enough.

Alright, it sounds like there is enough interest to get this rolling. Here's the deal:

Everyone who is interested, PM me and let me know. In this PM, tell me if there are any nights you cannot play, or any nights that are better than others. I will work to try to figure out a spot and time for us to get together for the first time. I'd like to add that everyone is welcome (I can safely say this since donny is in 'bama), so if you have poker buddies and/or friends outside of BP that are interested, bring them along - and tell me in your PM so I have some idea of how many people will be participating. I still feel we can work out the details the night of the game, but we'll keep it pretty low stakes (probably the $20/game mccoy mentioned, or even less if people want less). This is more for fun than anything else. Additionally, I really like Piney's idea of using this as a fundraiser for the site. I'll get in touch with the admin's and Clarity and work out details, as I will want this to be "legal". Possibly we'll try to throw a large tournament the Friday before the Spring Game to use as a bigger fundraiser, but I really like the idea of using the weekly games as well. If we play two $20 games, and give $5 each game to BP, with an average of 10 players, that's $100 a week for BP. And I personally would like to set aside more for BP, but again, I'll let majority rule.

This is a brand new "project", so bear with me as we iron out the details. For now, everyone that is interested in a weekly or bi-weekly Texas Hold'em game, PM me. Once I have a better idea of the number of participants and what nights will work best, we'll start playing.

Refer to my above post on this. If you have not done so yet, everyone who is interested, PM me...DO NOT JUST RESPOND HERE. So far only two people have actually PM'd me. Once I have a good grasp of who is actually interested, we'll figure out a where and when...so again, PM me if interested.

I just ran into this thread. I run a bi-weekly poker tournament for some friends in North Columbus. We play pretty much like what FKA is talking about, low limit tournaments - our tourneys aren't really about the money as much as it's about just drinking a ton of alcohol among friends.

I actually made a website for the tournament just recently where I keep track of points, money earned, and some fun photoshopped pictures. Anyways, it has the rules there - check it out. http://www.cosop.net (note the site isn't totally completed yet, I just made if for this "season").

I might be game depending on the night, location, and the rules.

Okay guys and gals... We really need to do this. After speaking with Clarity through PM's it seems that the site is in far greater need for a new server than I thought. I'm not good at poker but I will do whatever it takes to earn money for the site. That includes losing my ass of in a poker game or two every month.

Not only is this a good idea for the people here in Columbus and the surrounding communities but people in other areas (like sushi,manfred,NYB,NJB... not trying to throw you under the bus here) shouldn't have a problem setting something similar up.
We have a lot of members in the Cleveland/Mansfield area that could meet too.

I think this is a great opportunity to get to meet some of your fellow posters, have a great time, make a little money for yourself, and most importantly raise some money for a great cause. For anyone who is interested that lives in the Columbus area PM FKA877 like he has asked in previous posts, and for anyone who would like to set up a similar event in another area, just post what you would like done in this thread and it can go from there.

By the way Mods... can we make this sticky please? I think everyone should at least see this, even if they choose not to participate.

I want to get involved, but it might be a couple months before I'm able to. My schedule should open up when I get back in school, and I'd be willing to drive from Dayton to Columbus for this. Also, I know there's a handful of Dayton people on here. Any chance of a Dayton game?

That's where my interest lies. I don't know where you're at jlb, but wherever you live in Huber, we can't be more than a couple miles away from each other. I could probably host a couple games, but my house is pretty fuckin' small, and I don't have a "real" poker table, just a kitchen table. Maybe some of these other Dayton guys could get one started.
