It's 6:17 and McClinton just got ejected again.

Curious that you haven't posted in 11 months and choose this one to respond to.

So what?

I follow UC basketball and it's a sore spot. OSU's arrogance to play UC in basketball was too much for many UC fans to handle especially when the UC program was in much better shape than OSU's was.

I just want someone to give me an explanation on why OSU didn't want to schedule UC aside from some stupid recruiting BS that you're probably going to give.

Again, it's nice to hear so many responses, yet no answers as to why OSU was too scared to play UC.

The "Bob Huggins" excuse is certainly out the window since you decided to play WVU. Either you had a beef with the university itself or you playing UC would somehow shame Columbus.

I don't know any of the "facts" involved but I think getting whipped up on by the Huggins era 'cats would be a factor

Maybe the better way to put it would be what does Ohio State gain out of playing series? It wouldn't have helped Ohio State at all and could hurt it

That sure explains why it took a week for you to come on over and bring it up again (from 21's post on Christmas)

Here's your explanation - Ohio State didn't play UC because we're all a bunch of big school fraddie cats. there... feel better?

Pound salt.

Lighten up Francis... that response was intended to be good-natured humor. With your screen name I had no idea you followed UC basketball.

Looking at the schedules before Matta came to Columbus it appears that the Buckeyes only played one, maybe two marque games each year... That has changed a bit with Matta at the helm.

I have no clue why Cincy (or Xavier or Dayton) was ever scheduled. When they did schedule an Ohio team it was a MAC team and are still doing that to this day. Maybe O'Brien was "too scared" of Cincy, maybe it never fit into either teams schedule, or maybe Ohio State just didn't want to recognize Cincy at all. Whatever the case was, I have no idea and frankly don't care. As a fan I would have liked to see them play, especially the 98-99 season when both programs had very good teams, but it just did not happen.

Cincy got the game they wanted for a long time... but their fans will whine and complain because it came at a time that wasn't convenient for them. Boo hoo.

just not enough easy basket opportunitities.

The 2-2-1 press has become token pressure without Lighty. I'm hammering it to death, but it's 100% true. Lighty is a helluva athlete to set up traps at mid-court and drop back to cover the baseline.

The fact that their pressure is now token, reduces the number of easy buckets and a transition game. They are going to have become very good in a half-court set, something they've struggled with the last 2 years.
true, but i dont believe you always press for turnovers...

lighty was a meat and potatoes player. something that we didnt have a lot of and will be missed. but hes hurt and we have to move on.

1-probation (osu going on probation in the 90s)
2-huggins after he didnt get the job he became even more bitter and aggressive in his verbiage.
3-they didnt play any in state teams really, guess we can blame gary trent?

uc has a lot to be proud of. enjoy what you have and dont have bitter beer face all the time...

It's always amusing to see the reasoning ascribed by "fans" of other schools to our not scheduling Cincinnati. (Miami fan in Indiana? Odd, unless he limits his fandom to the gridiron, in which case he is a bandwagoner.)

The reason couldn't be something like payback for the Damon Flint fiasco (which might be petty, but it would be understandable). Or even a dislike for what Huggins represents. No, it has to be "fear."

Of course, we weren't afraid to schedule North Carolina, or Notre Dame, or any number of other excellent schools. But Cincinnati just frightened the bejeebers out of us.

i dont know.

the probation deal, negative recruiting blah balh repuation, fear.

the major issue i have is he worked hard, i mean hard to get his hat in the ring for the job. when he didnt get it he went out of his way to burn the bridge.

granted uc said that they would never play osu again after the last time theyplayed so...

who knows. i mean i do but who cares...
