What Excites You Most About The Upcoming FB Season?

I'm excited to see how Beanie does next year, but I also can't wait to see how Mo Wells and the two freshmen runningbacks can help the offense. (Specifically, I'm curious to see how much of the Saints' offense we have borrowed to use Mo Wells and Sain both to carry the ball, and to catch some passes.)

I'm always excited about the defense. Can they step up and make this a 2002 season? I think that they can.

I'm interested to see how the offense fares, as well. Can they also be the next 2002 season? Is Boeckman the next Krenzel? Can Wells be Clarett (I'm talking on the field - not off-field crap)? Who will step up and be the go-to receiver? Personally, I think that the 2007 offense can and will be better than 2002.

I don't think that anyone will be the next Nugent. My hope is that the improved offense (over 2002) will make up for the lack of special teams (again, when compared to 2002).

First and foremost, beating expectations. Yeah we lost a lot but that's what makes college football exciting. No reason we can't go to a BCS bowl game this year.

Our defense (linebackers!!!), being the underdog, how Tressel will manage the offense which has completely changed again (for the 4th straight year...) and what new tricks our coach has up his sleeve. Oh and of course BEANIE, Mo, Saine, Herron, Small, Robo, Hartline and most importantly, whoever that isn't on that list that will step up in a big way like Robo and Hartline did last year.

More than anything I'm interested in seeing what the offense looks like without Troy Smith. Are we headed for a return to the "FIRE JIM BOLLMAN!!!!111!!!" days of Tresel-ball, or will the offense put up points like the last 1 1/2 years? The defense has been pretty good ever since Tress has been here and with all we've got coming back on that side of the ball I don't see a problem. I am concerned about what we're going to do on offense. Will there be more creativity on offense, like passing out of the I formation we ran out of 90% of the time we lined up that way last year, working play action, involving the tight ends, not falling into the 4-5 WR shotgun set if we're passing, two TE 1 RB or I formation with two wideouts if we're running mold we saw last year etc...? That worked with Troy back there because teams just couldn't stop it no matter what they did, except for the NC game. That might not be the case next year with a brand new QB and WR corps. On top of that we're banking on Beanie, Mo Wells(fingers crossed hoping this is his breakout year) and some freshmen to replace Pittman's underappreciated, injury-free 1000+ yard performances of the last two years.

Lots of questions about the O going into next year IMO. I'm not predicting doom or anything but I'm in "wait and see" mode, way too many new faces to be sure one way or the other. That's what I've got my eye on for next year.

The chance to send Henne and Hart out as the ultimate losers.

0-4 bitches...you know its coming.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a quarterback for either team has ever lost 4 games in the rivalry? How about won 4 games?

I am definitely most excited about watching Beanie crank out the first downs.
30 CPG would be cool in the WA, WI, PSU, and scUM games.

#2 would have to be the DEs terrorizing QBs this year, and the LB crew we are blessed with (I'm rooting for Homan to break out, but I love the way Terry and Grant bring it off the edge, too).

#3 would be newcomers, whether true freshmen or redshirts.
T Gibson, Saine, Coleman, etc.

#4 would be whoever we have returning kicks and punts - Small, Saine, Scott, O'Neal, Jenkins or whoever. They might not be Teddy, but they will be damn scary for the other team!

It seasons like this one coming up where you see how good of a coach Tressel is. I am excited to see Beanie in a full time role, the continued emergence of Laurinaitis as a premier LB in CFB and how the QB situation shakes out. I know there is a diamond just waiting to shine in there. Most of all I am just killing to see some college FB again, it's just too much time that has passed since the Buckeyes played, especially played well. :( It will be a fun season, but I miss Troy, Teddy, Gonzo and Pitts already.
