one of two things are responsible for bp'ers 40 times, either they were hand timed, leaving lots of room for error....or...(more likely) everyone is full of shit.
my post was so far beyond the bullshit meter.. my system froze up and made me reboot just to get back online... but I couldn't take it any more... I had to add gas to the bullshit fire... :slappy:

grad21,

You know I respect your opinions and would never question your information unless I thought it was totally crazy, but I'd love to know where you got the MLB average of 6.8 from Home to 2nd. That seems WAY too fast to me. I'd guess closer to 8.0.

Well home to second would be different than a straight 60 of course...I was just giving a point of reference. The average major league 60 time is 6.8-6.9 while the average to first is about 4.2-4.3 for a righty and 4.1-4.2 for a lefty. The true burners make it in sub 4.0.

I picked that up at a clinic a few years back and have seen it on various websites like this one

It just hit me that the baseball player I was thinking of was a Dodger, then by doing a little research on google I think I found who I was thinking of...Al "the Bull" Ferrara. I don't know why the hell I was thinking the 80's, I guess I was thinking of another slow Dodger player(The one that came off the bench and hit a homerun to win the World Series).

prime time was not faster as a highschooler.

cynic...:p

BTW, I have never been timed in the 40 since I was a basketball player. However, if I had been, I'm sure it would have been in the 4.3 range, maybe faster...I had da skillz...

yeah, i have a hard time believing anyone here who has posted such great 40 times. everything's always great in retail and in the retelling. i'm not saying that i don't believe some of you were clocked with good times, but i am doubting that you actually had times that good. sorry. the law of averages are not on the side of bunches of bp posters actually having division 1-a speed. some here don't understand just how fast a time around 4.5 is. is there any wonder why hand-timed high school 40s are considered untrustworthy?

anyway, the 40 time is perhaps the most overrated measurable. a very good 40 time takes a backseat to brains, strength, hands, balance, and, of course, ability. the 40 is like the bench press. everyone wants to know what someone else benches. the bench matters so much less than the squat, dead lift, or even the stationary jump. if you want to see a strong football player, you look at what the scouts at the combines value more than nearly anything else: the ass. yes, i said it. combine scouts will not shy from downgrading a player because he doesn't have a bubble butt. i know the simpletons here will giggle; however, it is the case. so let's have a more pertinent thread and ask who has the best bubble butt. lol.

I have never been timed, but I DID outrun teddy Lehman once, so I'd say that puts me at about a 3.9 right?

Also when I was like 11 Bobby Carpenter was my neighbor and I was faster than him, so that deffinately makes me NFL caliber right? (granted I was I believe two years older than Bobby but thats not good for this story so SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!)

I'm gonna call bullshit as well. The slowest guy on this board is an ex-college football player? I guess I'm the second slowest with my 4.85 :shake:
So is there some kind of new recruiting tool that says that colleges want slower players? Hawg and I are molasses around these parts. I missed that memo, I played 4 years of college ball- and here's the kicker, I was a fast for a DT! The fastest guys on our team were in the 4.4-4.5 range. Wish I knew about all of you, I would've told my coaches about you so we could have the fastest team in college football. Let me guess, you all put up 225 a Kudla-like 52 times?! Well, as a reference point, my best was 26. Work from there. :smash:
