I may be a little pesimistic here on my pick of 9-4 but I felt the same way for the 2002 season and look what happened. And yet I hear that people are saying that Todd Boeckman will be better than Troy Smith. Well i sure don't know about that one. One thing i do know is that Penn State is looming large and Wisconsin is going to be tough one also. Very tough. The trip to Washington will be a big test for us. And ya just have to think that Michigan is waiting for us with open arms after last years incredible victory to put us into the big dance. Those 4 games are the ones that are really not in our favor. But we shall wait and see I guess.

As for Boeckman being better than Troy Smith, well............I have, however, heard that he's somewhere in between Krenzel and Smith. If that's the case, I don't think there's much cause for worry. In any case, we'll see soon enough, won't we?

Phil Steeles college preview: He says Boeckman actually runs a faster 40 than Smith, how true that is I really dont know. But I like what I saw in the spring game.

We had a patchwork line on both teams and still found running lanes. I think we are going to average 180 yrds on the ground and 220 by air. In the B1g T1n that will get us a win everytime with good ball control and no turnovers.

We were +9 in turnovers last year, with -3 in the scUM game. If we stay on track and hit double digits in T.O. margin I see us back in the BCS Champ game.

I will be a happy guy when people stop believing Penn State is a particularly tough game.

OSU is 4 - 2 against PSU with Tressel (One of which was the 01 game which OSU simply gave away in the second half)

Also, even though the game is a long way off, I've got to believe that their off-field, off season antics will take a toll on their season (despite the lack of meaningful punishment). I'm not too worried about Penn State. Now, Wisconsin, on the other hand . . .

I don't think the figurehead coach is helping. Of course, the guy is a legend, bla bla bla... but, I maintain he shoulda hung it up some time ago.

I understand what you're saying about Wiscy... I'm not on the Bielema bandwagon just yet. No question he had a great season last year (won loss-wise) but with the exception of ND, they were the worst 1 loss team in football. I see people expecting big things from them this year, and I'm not even arguing that they won't do well... I guess what I'm saying is, I think the jury's still out on what Bielema will do with Wiscy football. (Though, I admit that it's not like Wiscy is a thread or two from completely falling apart)

Here's how I see the 2007 season shaking up, game-by-game:

Vs. Youngstown Penguins State Sat. Sep. 1st, 2007- You could consider this an organized scrimmage. This game won?t be close and it should display a little of what the team will look like this year. The defense should dominate and Todd Boeckman will get a feel for what this season will be like.
Prediction- W Ohio State 52, Youngstown State 0

Vs. Akron Zips Sat. Sep. 8th, 2007- An upgrade from the last game, Akron should put up a strong fight for the first quarter and a half until Ohio State shows it?s depth and takes control of the game. The defense should be stellar once again and Todd Boeckman should play exceptional en route to a satisfying win.
Prediction- W Ohio State 38, Akron 13

At Washington Huskies Sat. Sep. 15th, 2007- The first threat, and away game, of the season will give a good scare to the Buckeyes. Both teams? new quarterbacks will struggle and it will be a defensive game excluding Chris Wells going off for a big game. Boeckman will have his first "bad game" as a starter but the Bucks prevail, but not by much.
Prediction- W Ohio State 17, Washington 14

Vs. Northwestern Wildcats Sat. Sep. 22nd, 2007- In the Buckeyes? first big ten game of the season, they will not have much trouble. But the Bucks could give up some yards to Northwestern running back, Tyrell Sutton. Boeckman should have a good game coming off what I think will be a less than stellar performance against Washington.
Prediction- W Ohio State 27, Northwestern 9

At Minnesota Gophers Sat. Sep. 29th, 2007- The first in-conference game of the season could prove to be a little trouble for the Buckeyes. Minnesota will be in it for the first three quarters, but the Buckeyes will finally pull away at the closing of the game. The defense will give up some points but will tighten up near the end of the game and show it?s dominance.
Prediction- W Ohio State 35, Minnesota 21

At Purdue Boilermakers Sat. Oct. 6th, 2007- In the Buckeyes second straight away game, I feel that this will be the first and only loss for the 2007 Bucks. They will come in as the heavy favorites and get behind early before making a late surge at the end, but just coming up short of a victory. I also believe Purdue?s pass-happy offense will be successful against the Buckeyes.
Prediction- L Purdue 20, Ohio State 13

Vs. Kent State Golden Flashes Sat. Oct. 13th, 2007- After a depressing and disappointing week for Buckeye fans, the Bucks should come back and dominate the Golden Flashes. The defense should pitch a shutout to display their dominance once again, and the offense will get back into their groove from the early season.
Prediction- W Ohio State 45, Kent State 0

Vs. Michigan State Spartans Sat. Oct. 20th, 2007- Coming off a dominating win and re-entering Big Ten play, Ohio State should come up big and play a great game on the way to their second straight win. James Laurinaitis and the Buckeye defense will make it?s case for the best in the country and I expect this to be Todd Boeckman?s breakout game.
Prediction- W Ohio State 45, Michigan State 6

At Penn State Nittany Lions Sat. Oct. 27th, 2007- After an amazing performance in a win over Michigan State, the Buckeyes will next have to defeat the Penn State Nittany Lions, and their stout defense led by All-American linebacker Dan Connor. Expect a close, low scoring game for the most part. In the end, Ohio State should make all of the plays necessary to extend their win streak to three.
Prediction- W Ohio State 20, Penn State 10

Vs. Wisconsin Badgers Sat. Nov. 3rd, 2007- Following a valiant win over Penn State, the Bucks do not have much time before they face their next top 25 caliber team. The Badgers offense featuring running back P.J. Hill should keep them in the game for a short time, but the depth and talent of Ohio State should keep the Badgers from leaving Columbus with a win.
Prediction- W Ohio State 31, Wisconsin 19

Vs. Illinois Fighting Illini Sat. Nov. 10th, 2007- This could be considered a sandwich game, but the Buckeyes should not overlook the Illini. Illinois almost upset Ohio State the previous year but don?t expect that this year. The defensive dominance should continue and the offense should keep on rolling.
Prediction- W Ohio State 37, Illinois 3

At Michigan Wolverines Sat. Nov. 17th, 2007- The biggest game of the season for the Buckeyes will, as always, be against their hated rival Michigan Wolverines. The Wolverines will have a potent offense including quarterback Chad Henne, running back Mike Hart, and stud wide receiver Mario Manningham. But the Bucks defense should do just enough to slow down the Wolverine offense. Also, the offense will have a strong game playing against an inexperienced Michigan defense. But, make no mistake about it, this will be one heck of a game.
Prediction- W Ohio State 30, Michigan 28
