Too soon old, too late smart
OK, Coach Frye has a year under his belt, tOSU OL performed pretty darn well. He corraled several Ohio kids to join up, and lost out on several OL difference makers. Also a couple in the portal. Don't see any OL in the Recruiting forums, which with losing two potential first round draftees from the tackle position, tOSU desperately needs. Actually losing three - Johnson (LT), Jones (RT), and Jones (RG), with Wypler hopefully coming back to try to earn Rimington Award. Donovan (LG) not eligible for draft yet. Anyone got anything to share?
 
And Oregon may have in fact hit upon Day's strategy. Thought that the HS kids were waiting to see how Frye would do with the Oline this season. Would have to say that he did well, and in game against Georgia, thought they did extremely well, as yeah, CJ got sacked, but as the 'homer' announcers pointed out numerous times, GAs DL was chock full of first rounders. Doing so well, may have been Wypler's tip point to him declaring....losing both tackles and the center leaves alot of constructing to do. Hopefully the 'beef' notes and that tOSUs Oline responds. It's time for some of the guys that have been backups to stand up. Appears that we've lost out on some of the better OT transfers. Don't really have my head around the timing of entering the portal, would think that if a person was going to transfer (a solid performer, not a disgruntled with PT one), that they'd enter in January, not after spring practices, but hopefully someone out there might clear away the fog....Go Bucks!

The pearl clutching over the OL has jumped the shark. The IOL with Jackson/Jones/James/Vimahi/Hinzman and hopefully a contributor from the portal should be fine. The OT's have Jones???, Fryar, Tshobala (Who got quite a few snaps thise year), Michalski (who was well regarded when recruited) and Fitzpatrick with maybe 1 more contributor from the portal. I'd rather keep some of these young players than get a one year transfer and we lose a younger player to the portal.

Don't think very many are concerned with the IOL. 2 of 3 returning + we've seen Vimahi in meaningful minutes + we have some good, young prospects.
Tackles are another matter: 0 of 2 returning + we've seen only one other (Fryar) in meaningful minutes + not many good, young prospects + we've been active in trying to find a tackle in the portal.
Michalski, Fitzpatrick, Move Jackson to T, Move Tshabola to T (he's been playing guard)???
One of these needs to happen for the starter + another one or two for back-ups.
