As early as we are into the Meyer era, I think it's pretty apparent that the focus on recruiting is about to change significantly from the Tressel era. Not that one approach was better or worse, but Tressel and Co. clearly focused on building a team of solid (not necessarily glamorous) athletes who wanted to be Buckeyes. My guess is Meyer will be turning Ohio State into the place where kids will have the opportunity to play for a dynamic coach in an up-tempo offense or aggressive defense and showcase their skills. Just a hunch, but team speed will not be a problem for very much longer.

I believe he mentioned in his presser that turning that around was going to be no problem.

Ok, with the dust settling some, I will offer a guess. I went with:

QB: None (Kiel is rumored and would love to see it, but don't think it's happening unless Studrawa comes here and cranks up the intensity)

RB: Dunn (think his heart is at OSU)

WR: Cyrus Jones (this was my wildcard pick, as I think he is leaning Bama right now)

OL: Davidson (I've got good info here, Davidson LOVES OSU...if we want OSU, we have him), Diamond (think he has been truly open since scUM filled up at OL and again, lookind solid with Urban), Kozan (fills out a solid OL class with Boren and Elflein...Studrawa also helps if it happens, but he knows he wants to be at OSU when the dust settles)

DE: Pittman (the GF and the Urban win out here), Spence (get the feeling OSU nails it here with the PSU falling out)...could pick up another but these are the two I feel are confident about

DT: None (don't think we get a real look from Goldman)

LB: None (hope I'm wrong, would LOVE to see Jamaal Marcus here)

DB: None (maybe Wright but not much smoke there)

ATH: Caleb (get the feeling he has put recruiting on the backburner and OSU is setting pretty with Urban coming in)

- 7 more commits seems right numbers-wise and I'm sure we land a wildcard I didn't list (maybe in lieu of Jones). Either way, this list seems reasonable and a KILLER end to this class if it happens anything like this.

Kiel's final four pick imminent

The recruiting coup that was Gunner Kiel took an unfortunate turn for Indiana and Kevin Wilson. In October, about 10 weeks after his original decision, Kiel decided to reopen his recruitment, turning those IU signatures into collector's items. The story will take another turn in a matter of days, when the 6-4, 215-pound Kiel makes his final college decision, likely from a group of four: LSU, Notre Dame, USC and Vanderbilt. This year's Indianapolis Star Indiana Mr. Football will graduate early from Columbus East and enroll in one of those schools in January. "I'll make a decision soon," Kiel said with a disarming smile. "I kind of have to."

Dodson, Davidson, Kozan, Spence, Dunn, Caleb, and maybe Diamond. Gonna temper my expectations and say we won't get them all, but I feel like being greedy today.

changes: Dodson, Diamond, Dunn, Spence, Pittman, and Schutt my new votes. Maybe we snag a Jones/Diggs/Caleb/Winston but that will be hard. Jamal Marcus and Bam Bradley and David Perkins will have to wait until they visit to see how big of a shot we have with them.

So far, "Other" is the correct answer, as the Urbanator lands Tommy Schutt.

Add Pittman to the winner's circle.

Two down...if we can three out of these five Diamond, Dodson, Spence, Caleb and I am still high on Bradley...then I will be content with the 2012 recruiting class.

Two of the remaining recruits HAVE (imo) to be OT's. For the life of me I can't fathom what JT and JB were doing with OL recruiting.

When this list was created Schutt wasn't even on it. But he gave his verbal not long after. When talking about remaining schollies likely to be filled a lot of smart BP folks have mentioned "other wildcard unknown at this point." Just curious if that happens who might it be considering it could be a flip from another school or a top uncommitted kid who we don't have on the list. Cheers!
