Which Thad 5'ers start next year?

I am not ready to say next years team is better just b/c we have never seen these guys in a college game.

I think we have the potential to be one of the very best teams we have ever seen here in Columbus but right now it is a wait and see.

I think that there is a possibility that we will see two inside guys on the floor next year.

With Oden/Twig/Hunter playing two of them at the same time shouldnt be out of the question.

oden
hunter Twigg
lewis harris lighty
cook lighty
butler conlry

and this team might really miss Foster and Dials but, will be a great team by time for the NCAA and woth Oden playing here instead starting for an NBA team is funny and will have 2 post players on this team next year. Dials never had the true help down low and that is the only weakness for the buckeyes this year

I understand your point of view, but you have to appreciate just how dominate Oden will be next year in the Big Ten. Having a talent like him makes everyone that much better, I will say this, our perimeter guys will see lots of open looks, trust me.

Cook is going to be a star.....period. Very few are mentioning Lighty and that is suprising. He is just getting his legs back and he is having a very good season.

I just think with the upperclassmen we have and adding Oden and Cook specifically, makes us a much improved team.

I agree with you that Oden will create open shots, but I think it is too early to say this team is going to be better than this years team. Not a big deal, I just want to wait until they play a game.

Also I checked out the Cook/Lighty film and while Lighty didnt have a big game he showed good moves to hole and I think once he gets some confidence back in his knee he is going to be a stud and cook is already a stud.

I think with Mayes not playing the last two games I am ready to say that Cook is going to be in the starting lineup with Oden.

I agree that with the Thad five in C-bus that we will be more talented. I still say we may not be better. Losing four senior starters, two of them 5th year seniors may be rough. These four captains bring a lot of leadership to the table. Its the intangibles that we do not know about (Foster's bulldog leadership)

There have been other instances where dominating big men have played on somewhat underperforming teams (i.e. Shaq and LSU).

If Butler and Lewis (and maybe Harris, Mayes and Twig) can provide close to the same level of leadership as upperclassmen next year then look out, the skies the limit.

I think you have to factor in what coach can teach the players already on our roster by next season. The kids coming in are more talented hands down but they havent had the Matta advantage yet. Obviously by the end of the season we will be a force but I look for our record to be very similiar at this time next year (can't get much better). That said I believe we are going to be winning more impressively and everyone is going to be more confident in our squad.

Talking about this though really does make me feel as though I am disrespecting this years team. Come march Ill be penciling the buckeyes into the final four.

Oden

I think the lack of PT for Harris this year shows just how much Thad plans to use him next year. It's not like Othello's a young guy, either. He doesn't have B10 experience, but he's got experience. I don't know much about him, but I'd say if he can defend the post he's almost a lock to get the nod over Harris. Definitely going more on what I have (not) seen of Harris this year.

I also really like the idea of our lineup being:
Butler
Cook
Lewis
Lighty
Oden

I'd love to see this lineup getting up and down the court. I'm certainly not scared of Oden throwing outlet passes to start the break, and the rest of those 4 guys are great athletes. Lighty's offensive game is probably better suited for the transition, and even still in the halfcourt he'll be a matchup problem for a lot of 4s. Oden can run the floor well, too. I'd definitely be all about Thad putting these five in there and turning them loose.

Oden
Conley

Butler (Cooks good but Butler is sensational and will be all big ten this season)
Lighty
Lewis

Cook will not play the point, he is a pure shooting guard. If your saying Butler starts, then Conley will sit down. I do envision having Butler moving to the #2 guard and bringing in Conley on occasion to run the show.
