Who owns the Buckeye Cafe?

Folanator

Brawndo's got electrolytes...
Who owns the Buckeye Cafe? and why are they letting ESPN use their facility for the DP show on Friday? Shouldn't we start a boycott of the BC if they proceede? Somebody needs to let them know that we see it as sleeping with the enemy.
Home Depot is a tough one to impact. This is a target that is accessable, local and would make a statement if they told ESPN to Fuck off.
Just a thought.
PS I do not think it makes any different what DP stance is. It's ESPN and they should not be allowed in our back yard.

Though most of the time I do not agree with a single thing you have to say, I will have to go with you on this one. We were planning on going over there Friday, but not now. I am not even watching the game live. Listening on the radio and then watching a tape of it. Refuse to turn my television to that channel. Its not like my 2 tvs not being there are going to hurt them, but its about principal. Until they are held accountable I am DONE with them.

If there's a number, or better yet an email address, I'm sure people would be perfectly happy to call and be heard on the subject. We'd just have to remember to keep it clean and reasonable.

One of our family members worked their (sous chef or similar role) I'll ask him who owned it then and if he knows of any ownership changes (was 2 + years ago mind).

I believe it was started by John Self - who was also a part owner of Damon's

Here's a link to Home Depot... let'em have it! [email protected]

Also my email and their response:

Comments:
Just wanted you to know that I will be taking my future business to
Lowe's. Perhaps you will be receiving thousands of emails like mine. The
reason for my decision is the ridiculous attack by ESPN on the football
program at The Ohio State University (and particularly their personal
attack on Coach Tressel and mocking his religious faith...Quote from
ESPN "Tressel looked like a minister in his trademark sweater vest and
perfect haircut, and played the part, too, founding a Fellowship of
Christian Athletes chapter at the school." Home Depot is the main
sponsor of College Game Day and therefore you obviously must endorse
this type of "attack/sleaze" journalism. I would very much appreciate a
response to this email stating your position regarding this attack on
Coach Tressel's personal faith.

Respectfully,
David Smith

Hello David,

Thank you for contacting The Home Depot and sharing your concerns. We
sincerely appreciate hearing from all of our customers.

As far as our advertising policy is concerned, for competitive business
reasons The Home Depot advertises on programs that are most popular with
the viewing public. We work hard to avoid programs that are
inconsistent with our values, but as you probably know, it is impossible
to preview content of any program prior to its broadcast.

The Home Depot is committed to building stronger communities. We are
proud of our long tradition of supporting organizations working in the
areas of affordable housing, disaster preparedness, at-risk youth and
the environment. Over the last 12 years, The Home Depot has contributed
nearly $200 million and tens of millions of volunteer hours to
worthwhile causes.

We hope this answers your concerns. Thank you, again, for sharing your
comments. We appreciate hearing from all of our customers.
If we can be of any further assistance, please feel free to contact us
again.

Your Home Improvement Partner,

Also sent an email to Tom Friend but HMMM NO response...

Tom Friend -

Perhaps you could find some credible sources to corroborate your story. Interesting how an expose on college football seems to come out this time of year (every year)! Why not interview ex-coach Earle Bruce, ex-coach John Cooper, Chris Spielman, Eddie George, Matt Wilhelm, Craig Krenzel, Mike Vrabel... I think you get the point or is it anything/anybody to sell a mag. I for one will be canceling my subscription.
Bet Dan Patrick is looking forward to coming to OSU next week or perhaps this is another part of the ratings ploy!

Have a great day and GO BUCKS!

David Smith

Here is what I sent.....

I am writing in response to ESPN holding the Dan Patrick Show there on Friday the 19th of November. We normally come down for the party the day before the Michigan game, but this year we will pass. Due to the recent mud slinging by ESPN toward the Ohio State University Football Program I cannot support your celebration with them in attendance. I believe I am not alone within the Buckeye Nation in finding alternative ways of celebrating this rivalry weekend. You do not need ESPN to bring people into the Cafe for this pre-game ritual, Buckeye fans come out in droves. I hope you have a change of heart in allowing ESPN in the door, but if your decision stands know I wil not be following.
At least I feel better....

the cafe is an account of mine.....i know the owner, the gm and the entire management team.....

they are all good people...
hopefully people will remember this during their responses. now, there is nothing wrong with making your voice heard. i just hope people sit down and think about "what is the best way to get what i want". not "im mad and im going to make everyone in my way suffer". expecially with a local shop like this, "respectfully" write the management and inform them that you do not support their decision in regards to espn and list your reasons why. using threats generally irrodes your case no matter how sound. im sure these people are aware of the situation and are just as conflicted as the rest of us. actually, in their case i would imagine they are far more conflicted than the mass majority of us.

as enjoyable as it is, picking up a large blunt object and beating someone about the head and face isn't always the best way to get your point across .
