Why does Big Ten football suck?

BKB, I don't understand your attitude. No, of course football isn't the most important thing a university has going for it. But this message board is about football and the Big Ten has really fallen off a cliff.

The question is, why is that? Is it about regional recruiting? Is it about athletes gravitating to warmer climates? Why is OSU so far ahead of everyone else? Is it because the talent in Ohio high schools is vastly superior to other states around here?

You don't think these are legitimate questions for a football message board?

Your lead in: "I think Ohio State should move to the SEC." You didn't ask those questions at all, legitimate for a message board or not. In fact, here's the questions you asked:

Seriously?
Akron?
Central Florida?
Is this all about the lack of homegrown talent in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan?
How does perennial powerhouse Nebraska give up 38 unanswered at home?

The SEC has won 6 Championships in a row, and there is little dispute that they are the best football conference in the nation during that time. Prior to this unprecedented run, the SEC took from 1979 to 2003 to win 6 National Championships. If you take away Alabama's you have to go back to 1957 to get six SEC National Champions. Which is to say, the SEC was once Alabama and no one. Much like the B1G is now Ohio State and no one.

Point? Nothing ever stays the same. The SEC will not be forever dominant and considering the level of cheating and lack of academics (we are talking about college football, after all) they aren't much of anything of which to aspire.

Dryden's pictorial is the reason why. It's also why the B1G is such a good basketball conference right now. Strong coaches

Don't you blaspheme in here!

That man was a genius (on top of being the most magnificent sumbitch to ever draw a breath).

BKB, great answer. And not hostile. My next question is, what is the real value of the 5 star rankings from Scout and Rivals? USC has a roster filled with them and they lost to a bunch of 2 and 3 stars at WSU. Manziel wasn't a 5 star out of high school. Ahh, that's a another thread for another time.

Rivalries aside, I like the Big Ten, I root for the Big Ten. I never want to see the Akrons and UCFs beat a Big Ten team. Last weekend was an abortion for Big Ten fans everywhere. And we're not completely immune. What the hell is Cal doing scoring 34 points? But it's certainly not the same issue as what took place in Ann Arbor and State College.

As to the original post;

I ask this, "suck compared to whom?"

Suck on the field compared to the SEC? I can't give you an answer that hasn't already been hashed and rehashed. Oversigning, population migration, coaching talent, resources committed etc etc etc.

Suck on the field compared to any conference not named the SEC? We don't.
