Winter Workouts Reports

I'm just messin' with him. During the Sugar Bowl, JaMarcus Russell was compared to every black quarterback not named Spergon Wynn.

It's a funny, but certainly not racist, trend.

I've been thinking about the exact same thing. This is especially true when you have a player of a certain race who plays a position more commonly played by another.

Just off the top of my head Dustin Fox=Jason Sehorn, Jon Major=Bobby Carpenter, African-American QBs, etc.

Thanks goodness for the Troy Smith=Drew Brees comparisons.

It isn't racist but it is kind of funny.

Not to get too far off topic but that bothered me last year when no one could some up with a name to compare Dane to other than Gonzo.

Not to continue too far off topic, but I hear what you are saying and it is still indicative of how much still needs to be done where we first look at the skill set one has, for comparison sake, and make comparisons based on the skill set alone.

Boeckman continues to take on a leadership role during the workouts.
I like the idea of Boeckman stepping up and being a leader for what is going to be a very young group of skill position players. If Lyons can step in and show us something, then all that will also help tremendously.

I just hope the oft-injured Lyons can stay healthy.

I was under the impression that Lyons switch to safty was very very brief. Hasn't he been a WR for the most part?

I actually don't think Henton is known as being a tremendously mobile QB

I watched the Georgia state championship game on the internet (as did other BPers), and trust me, Henton is in fact tremendously mobile. He had long runs and spin moves to break tackles. Oh, and he has a cannon for an arm.

...more from emails...

They finished off conditioning today with 200 yd sprints. Ben Person won by quite a bit over the other OL. Ryan Williams also surprised by winning the DL/DE sprints.

Dukes hasn't looked that great so far during workouts.

People are also forgetting about Spitler at the LB spot. He appears to be in great shape.
