Wisconsin Badgers (Official Thread)

Wow. I hadn't even thought of Chryst as being on the hot seat coming into this season. But looking back at their past couple of seasons, underachieving seems to be a trend. Getting absolutely gobsmacked by the Bucks then pantsed by Bert & illinois at home is a terrible indicator of where their program is and is headed.

Like others have said, having Leonhard in the wings and probably being a hot HC commodity come hiring season in December/January likely forced their hand a bit.

Paul Chryst never was annoying to me, he seemed like an easy-going straight shooter. And he was likeable the time he was fired up on the sideline when they were stuffing Cryami in couple of bowl games.

Of course the fact that he never beat tOSU could be why he never bothered me. He did manage to win 6 bowl games in his 7 years there, the only loss was by 1 point to Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

I wish Jim Leonhard success in all of his non-conference games, and just as much success against the Buckeyes as Chryst had.

Yeah. I liked Chryst a lot more than Alvarez or Bert. Seemed like a humble enough guy who didn't run his mouth or act like a clown. Like you, not really giving us any trouble probably helped.

Yeah, it seems abrupt, but in the last four full seasons Wisconsin has played in the Pinstripe Bowl, the Duke Mayo Bowl, and the Las Vegas Bowl. Also he’s lost two of the last four to Minnesota while last years recruiting class finished 11th in the Big Ten.

The slide has been steady and I have to imagine Alvarez has had conversations with Chryst about it beginning at least as early as 2019.
