Am I the only one here who had mine taken out while being awake?

I was given 23 novacaine shots in the mouth and had no laughing gas. (Those shots in the roof of the mouth are killer!)

All 4 of my teeth were impacted so they had to cut a hole in the side of my gums, break the teeth apart with a chisel, and then pull the pieces out.

Since I was awake during the whole thing, the surgeon told me to bring some head phoes and listen to music so I wouldn't be able to here the cutting and tearing, it didn't help. I heard everything and saw blood covered surgical gloves for about an hour.

Thank god I'm not a pussy like some of you guys.:wink:

I had mine taken out when I was in the military....e gads.

Luckily they somehow managed to do a fantastic job. (at least the NAVY is good for something!)

I got novacaine as well. Was awake the whole time... not much pain.

It was a dull sensation...kind of felt like they stuck a pry bar in my mouth and that's how they got them out... no chisel & hammer.... WTF did you guys get yourselves into?? hammer...chissel? breaking teeth?? wtf.

Mine was simple. Pried the damn teeth out. Could feel it, but not in a horrible way...just "uncomfortable".

And oh yeah....talk about pu$$ies...... f you all. After the navy docs got done with me....they wrote me up a prescription and back to work I went. There were flight ops going on and work to be done.

oh yeah..and you'll jam your tongue in the holes in your gums for a few weeks...just because it feels weird...

I had Mine taken out My senior year of high school, was eating a hamburger two days later when I went to a golf tournament with My dad.

I had My tonsils taken out My senior year at OSU that was scary as I almost died from that

I had mine out the summer before my JR year of high school. Never had any pain, just a lot of swelling. I was put under during the operation so I don't remember anything about the actual operation.

I got mine taken out in college. I had to go home to do it, and needed a long enough time to recover without missing school. We chose Thanksgiving break, and that sucked because A) my birthday is right around Thanksgiving, and I actually had the teeth pulled on my birthday, and B) because I couldn't eat any Thanksgiving dinner except mashed potatos.

They knocked me out good (Demerol, I think) and my Dad had to help me walk out to the car after it was over because I couldn't hardly stand up.

Not something I'd want to do again....
