I was given 23 novacaine shots in the mouth and had no laughing gas. (Those shots in the roof of the mouth are killer!)

All 4 of my teeth were impacted so they had to cut a hole in the side of my gums, break the teeth apart with a chisel, and then pull the pieces out.

Since I was awake during the whole thing, the surgeon told me to bring some head phoes and listen to music so I wouldn't be able to here the cutting and tearing, it didn't help. I heard everything and saw blood covered surgical gloves for about an hour.

Thank god I'm not a pussy like some of you guys.:wink:

I had all four taken out at once in bootcamp. That sucked. No rest unless you want to recycle and join a diferent platoon. I stayed and gutted it out. I was in tears for three days just trying to march.

My upper ones grew back and I had those removed at the age of 29. Surgery at 10:30 am. Tee time at 4:30pm. Shot a 46 on the front nine.

I had all four removed between my sophomore and junior years in college. Mine were also done with local anesthetic. I had had teeth extracted twice before that for orthodontics (12 total teeth extracted in my lifetime), and the wisdom tooth extraction was by far the worst. I was left with holes, and they wouldn't stop bleeding for three days., which sucked. I can't say I went out and did anything tough right afterwards. That wasn't because of the holes in my jaw though, that was because I was 20 years old, and I was gonna just sit around and play Perfect Dark anyway.

what they do is take out about a 3 inch section of the femur. they then drill in two screws about 12 inches long into the bone from th outside, so they are at a 90 degree angle from the bone. they put two above the removed section and two below. the 4 screws sticking out of your leg are then encompassed by what resembles some sort of S&M contraption. its a soli black bar with a big hole in the side.


you take an allen wrench , put it in the hole and turn it. it then turns the screws in your leg thereby widening the gap when there is no femur. 9 months later when the bone has finally regenerated in there, it is longer.

bottom line, it sucked.
