I had a concealed permit in Florida and carried an HK-45 at times. Running night clubs in Miami and being around large amounts of cash were my main reason. After 5am my saftey was off. In Mass. it's a lot harder to get a concealed permit, and I don't run in the same enviroments. But, I'd have no problem opening fire on someone that threatened my life or an innocent life.

Could you? - two in the chest, one in the head.....

For most folks a failure to stop is going to result in them continuing to fire away at center mass (if they have spent the time to build up muscle memory) sometimes even after the weapon is empty or lock up with the trigger depressed after the first shot.

Combat stress induced loss of fine motor skills sucks.

Even someone who is absolutely willing and has a good skill set when it comes to markmanship is still unlikely to pull off a set of pairs to the chest followed by a failure to stop drill when under actual fight or flight stress UNLESS they continually train doing just that.

Would you? - if someone was threatening my wife or daughter and I felt I had no other option, I wouldn't hesitate....

It's probably a good idea to remind the untrained that it is imperative to have an understanding of when lethal force is acceptable. That can change from jurisdiction to jurisdiction (anyone remember the guy in TX who called 911 to tell them that his neighbor was being burglarized...and then ran out and shot the criminals as they were running away because he didn't want them to get away with his neighbor's stuff...that wouldn't fly in too many areas outside of Tejas).

NorthShore touched on that a bit in the other thread.

If you believe your life or the life of another individual is at risk...green light. Other than that...probably not a good idea to shoot.

"Critics, particularly county prosecutors, argued that the "castle doctrine" could help criminals evade charges, while groups representing sheriffs, police chiefs, prosecutors and officers have expressed concerns about allowing anyone to carry a gun inside a car."

I am all for protecting your home and family. I just have doubts about the intent and effectiveness of this Law that panders to certain groups.

I've never had to do anything like this, and quite frankly, don't want to. But whether it sounds like internet tough talk or not, I think that if some worthless piece of shit was threatening to harm/kill me or someone I loved, I'd do whatever necessary to make sure he didn't succeed. And that includes shooting and potentially killing the aforementioned piece of shit.
