WR Braxton Miller (B1G POY, National Champion)

The article makes the argument that Pryor was a huge get as a freakish athlete and not necessarily on pure QB skill.

They also argue that Miller is a better QB at this point than was Pryor. Again, talking things other than pure physical athleticism. It's not to say Miller isn't also highly gifted athletically, just that Pryor is a once in a generation sorta guy on that metric.

Frankly, the analysis seems about right to me, though out of context the quotes sorta look absurd.
so wait......he committed to Michigan?

Praising some one's athleticism is now "dogging" him?

Have you not watched Ohio State football since Pryor took over the QB position? Pryor is incredibly gifted physically. He has the right attitude to become a better QB, and he is improving quite a bit. But, you're kidding yourself if you think Pryor was a polished QB coming out of HS... or didn't have significant work to do to become a solid passer.

I'm all for ripping on ESPN and all.. but, that article is pretty on point.

I disagree. I'm not too upset about their take on Pryor, but their statement about Smith is ridiculous. The guy was an unhyped athelete coming out of Glenville, yet they feel that "the production matched the hype" for him. They simply don't know what they're talking about.

Thoughts on the commitment
Ohio State landed an elite quarterback prospect Thursday when Wayne High School's Braxton Miller committed to the Buckeyes. A true franchise type player both in his unbelievable skill set and his demeanor on and off the field. In the 2011 class you will be hard pressed to find a QB with all the talent and intangibles Braxton has combined with the ceiling all his skills put together give him. Ohio State should have no trouble pulling a top 10 class in the 2011 cycle and I expect when we look back 4 years from now Braxton will be the centerpiece.

I'm willing to agree with that re: Smith, though Smith was an Elite 11 QB, so there's at some reason for the remark.

Miller?s career filled with jaw-dropping plays, injuries on the way to Ohio State

Thursday, June 3, 2010

HUBER HEIGHTS ? The Wayne High School football team was losing to nationally ranked Colerain 13-7 at halftime of its 2007 season opener at Miami University?s Yager Stadium.

When the second half began, most were surprised to see a new quarterback in the huddle for Wayne. The game was close and the starter, Ryan Bitsko, had been the Warriors? quarterback the season before, as well.

Spectators rifled through their programs. They matched the number to the name: Braxton Miller, freshman.

?Yes, I have to admit, I was totally surprised,? Miller said later about the call to enter the game. ?And naturally, I was a little nervous for a while, but I knew we were in against a tough opponent and knew I had to settle down.?

Already, he was listed at 6 feet 2 and 190 pounds. He played the rest of the game in Wayne?s 19-7 loss and completed 10 of 15 passes for 149 yards, threw two interceptions and ultimately impressed in the debut of what would become a highly notable career.

?Shortest-term freshman I?ve seen,? Wayne coach Jay Minton said afterward.
