So if Miller gets the nod the first 5 games and goes lights out and the team is really clicking, you guys think Tressel pulls the kid.

For the record I think the kid is going to be one of the best QB's Tressel has had since Troy Smith.

Even with Miller at QB you guys still win at least 10 games if not all of them.

If I were a tsun fan I'd hope for the same. Much rather face a true frosh QB than a 6'6" 235lb beast (Rose & Sugar Bowl MVP) senior QB too. :roll1:

Does not matter which one, we still lose. QB does not scare me, the defense does.

Heyword should have been the MVP this year.

Those of us who don't live in the recruiting forum show up today and wonder what happened to Braxton Miller? Thanks for moving him out of that forum early and giving me a heart attack. :wink2:

I'm excited to see what BM can do, as I'm sure most are. But I caution everyone that we have to take things one game at a time. He has a real shot at starting when the calendar turns to September this year. But some great quarterbacks take time to adjust to the speed at the college level. There are going to be some people with butt hurt if JT looks to Guiton to start.

Quarterback Braxton Miller is used to being the center of attention after earning the starting role in high school as a freshman. The quarterback from Huber Heights Wayne enrolled at Ohio State last month and signed his letter of intent yesterday. | More photos

The coaching staff didn't want to throw Braxton Miller in. They had an experienced upperclassman quarterback returning from a playoff season, and Miller was just a 14-year-old freshman.

But at halftime of the 2007 season opener, with his starter struggling and his Huber Heights Wayne team losing, coach Jay Minton made the move. In came Miller.

Wayne still lost, 19-7 to nationally ranked Cincinnati Colerain. But the kid completed 10 of 15 passes for 149 yards.

A star was born.

"He was a freak. That's the only way to describe it," Minton said. "Once he got the opportunity and I saw what he could do, I would've been the dumbest coach in America if I didn't give him the job."

Nearly four years later, Miller once again is faced with an opportunity, and another coaching staff might be faced with a similar decision.

None of the 23 players Ohio State signed to letters of intent yesterday will face the scrutiny that awaits Miller over the next few months. Even under normal circumstances, Miller would have drawn attention: He is rated the top running/throwing quarterback in the nation by Rivals.com and one of the top 35 prospects overall.

Last season, he passed for 2,172 yards and 17 touchdowns and rushed for 921 yards and another 17 TDs while leading Wayne to the Division I title game.

But the real intrigue to this story is that Ohio State's returning starting quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, is facing a five-game suspension to start the season for violating NCAA rules (an appeal is pending). According to quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano, the door is wide open for Miller to earn the opening-day starting spot.

"He's going to get a shot like everyone else will this spring," Siciliano said, "because we don't have a guy cemented. He's got a special skill set that not everybody has."

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- One Ohio State starting quarterback is still on crutches. The other may have been at the Buckeyes' National Signing Day news conference in his new No. 5 jersey.

Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller are two of the highest-profile recruits of Jim Tressel's 10 years in Columbus, and for one season they'll be together, as Miller was one of 23 players to officially join the Buckeyes' 2011 recruiting class on Wednesday, a class that was ranked No. 3 in the nation by Scout.com and No. 10 by Rivals.com.

Miller enrolled at Ohio State for winter quarter, so he's been around the program and Pryor for a month.

"He's a cool dude to hang out with," Miller said. "I've just got to learn from the best."

Miller was the No. 34 overall player and No. 1 dual-threat quarterback in this class, according to Rivals, and the No. 36 overall player and No. 2 overall quarterback to Scout. In the Class of 2008, Pryor was the No. 1 player by both Scout and Rivals. Both are elite recruits, but they're not exactly the same type of player.

"Terrelle is a thicker guy, a stronger kid," quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano said Wednesday. "Braxton is probably going to make more guys miss. Both are very similar from an arm strength standpoint. The ball comes out with Braxton a little bit faster. Terrelle is a longer delivery guy, and there's nothing wrong with that."

I have to admit that I don't see Pryor when I watch Miller. Miller is more electric in his moves...must quicker. Pryor is FAST. Presumably faster than Miller, but Miller is quick and shifty.

Meanwhile, Miller does appear to be several steps ahead of where TP was upon arriving on campus in the passing game. Should Miller live up to potential, he'll be a nightmare to defend, being that quick and also an excellent passer. Yowzaa!:yow1:
