WR Brian Robiskie (Official Thread)

Dispatch

Robiskie: Shoulder is fine

Late in the second quarter, receiver Brian Robiskie leaped high for a 31-yard touchdown catch, landed on his right shoulder and trotted off the field with his arm hanging by his side.
It was the same shoulder that was sprained in preseason camp, and he did not return to the game.
"It was fine," he said. "I could have played on it, but it kind of shocked me -- it did the same thing when I originally hurt it, so it was more like being shocked. But it's fine. I'll continue to get treatment and try to get it better."

The way he was favoring that shoulder it's hard to believe that it's as minor as he is letting on. Players are famous for not telling coaches that they are in pain or having a problem. I sure hope he's ok. He's TD machine.

It would suck if he has to play the whole season with a lingering shoulder problem. Hard to imagine him having the opportunity to heal it up though now that the season has started, especially the way he sacrifices his body to go up and get the football...

Best of luck Robo...stay healthy man.

I hope Robo is ready to go this week, so ready to go that when we hold him out of the game that his is just censored. He is a huge part of us beating USC, and so [strike]if[/strike] when we actually unleash Robo and take them down, his value will begin to come into play. He's had many signature catches, but the best is yet to come.

Robiskie combines maximum production, minimum celebration

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Trapped for so long inside a stoic shell, the ebullient spirit of a big-play receiver was bound to bubble to the surface eventually.

It happened last year in the Metrodome. Brian Robiskie leaped high in the end zone and made a body-twisting grab for a 52-yard touchdown. It was an important play, answering a Minnesota touchdown and giving Ohio State a 20-7 lead just before halftime.

As Robiskie rose from the turf, he was met by fellow receiver Brian Hartline, and the two galloped joyously behind the end zone, facing the stands. They raised their index fingers to their lips in the universal sign for "Shhhhhh."

It was uncharacteristic of Robiskie, and unappreciated by the men who to him matter most.

"Tress stopped me and said something to me, and that was the end of that," Robiskie said of coach Jim Tressel's reaction.

What did Tressel say?

"Don't do it."

Ohio State went on to a 30-7 victory. As soon as Robiskie turned on his cell phone afterward, the first message was from his father, Terry, a former NFL running back and longtime assistant coach now with the Atlanta Falcons.

The father's words were similar to the coach's.

"He doesn't put up with that," said Robiskie's mother, Cynthia.

I'm thinking Robo has a big game this week, after a less than inspired performance, I think he comes out motivated and with a chip. Few use their body better than Robo and we definately need that against the sizable safeties of USC.

i realize that there may be a lingering shoulder issue, and his fellow senior was just benched, more than likely for good, but did it seem to anyone else that robo seemed less than inspired today? maybe theres still a hangover from last week, but it looked like the fire just wasnt in his eyes, especially on the drop he had in the first half where it wouldve have most certainly been 6? anyone else pick up on this or am i just crazy?

Definitely saw it.

He one armed it? Unacceptable.

I believe he's hurt from the first week - possibly going all the way back to last year's Northwestern game.

Why play a hurt player? Let the kid heal if he's clearly walking around favoring a side.

They asked him about it in the post game presser.... he interrupted the question, said "I dropped it," and left it at that.
