WR Dane Sanzenbacher (Official Thread)

Funny how Bill Conley has pretty much the same opinion about Dane that I shared. Its really sad that if someone doesnt toe the "company line" they are negative... Its called having a different opinion. Its called being open minded. As I originally said, its great for the young man, I HOPE he succeeds and I wish him no ill will. Questioning the early offer is a LEGITIMATE question.

Particularly when a guy who was regarded NATIONALLY as good as there was as a recruiting coordinator. Id say his opinion is better than anyone posting messages here on this board.... In his opinion Dane is athletically limited Conley SPECIFICALLY mentioned the same thing I did.... the offers.

Conley would never say a kid was a reach he caught some real flack a year or two ago for speaking the truth about what he believed and now his statements are much more subdued. Conley didnt call him a reach but its pretty clear that is what he is thinking.

Is Bill Conley perfect in his assesment of talent? Nope, no one is. Is he better than you or anyone else posting on this message board? Your a fool if you think otherwise.....

Id say that if you have read Conleys commments on this young man they address the very concerns I brought up. Again, I wish Dane all the success at OSU. I hope he grows and improves as a player and most importantly that he improves as a human being. I have no doubts that under the guidance of Jim Tressel and his staff both of these things will happen.

That said, I stand by my original statements. Based upon his measurables and his offers, I think this guy getting an offer in early July seems like a reach to me and I am apparently not the only person who thinks that.
Here, let me shut you up once and for all...

Bill Conley and John Cooper: 2-10-1

Jim Tressel: 4-1 ...oh, and a National Championship

Who do you think knows more about recruiting??

Thank you, please come again Chicken Little.

:slappy:

Conley was wrong on Hawk.... Gosh I guess that makes him wrong on every recruit....
Rob...seriously...go back to the other boards. Then again, thanks for proving yourself again.

Classic.

Conley missed on Hawk..arguably the greatest LB to ever wear S&G...not some walk-on, but the greatest ever. Gee, that is a slight miscalculation...

How many times do you need to be wrong before you just realize that you are clueless?

Are you really basing your assessment on offers? Say it ain't so...please.

Save some face. Please?

Bill Conley was probably the one that suggested that Matt Zahn be offered. I don't know if that's true, but I'll throw it out there...LOTS of Cooper's recruits were flops, flunk-outs, and failure to achieves. For instance, Conley probably got a lot of props for luring Rambo out from the west coast. Did it really end up even being a big deal? Like Laguna said, don't always buy the hype, Rob. I don't have a problem with disagreeing with something, but that's just not a good argument: "Well, Conley says this...and Conley said that...." It's a point, but not a big one.

I would think everyone would agree that camp offers are legit. Period. A.J. was a camp offer, BTW. And, having seen him a lot in HS, I don't know where anyone would get the idea that he was anything but a big-time prospect. Oh yeah, probably because he didn't have lots of offers...

I wouldn't mess with Luca Brasi and the Capo Regime. Sanzenbacher is a football player. Very easy for the "recruiting analysts" to dissect height, weight, 40 time, blah, blah. Some guys are just gamers. Once the lights are on, the good ones have "it". They have the ability to come up with the big play, the ability to do the little things that don't always show up in the box score. Like other posters have stated, he showed up to camp and EARNED his offer. Hope he has a great senior year, stays injury-free, and continues to show why he deserves to be a Buckeye.

Anderson Russell's other offer was from Duke, which is less impressive than most MAC offers.....from all accounts from players and staff...he is going to be a PLAYER

but back to Dane... his numbers, leadership, and team success speak for themselves.

And didn't he have an offer from Iowa after the Ginn tour?

.......
The time in the 400 has no relationship to how fast you are in the 40. Thats almost like comparing his time in the 800 to the 40
And his time in the 40 has no relationship to his speed on a football field.
Let's see here, you named 3 races, all run on a track, in running clothes, spikes (or at least running shoes) and with nobody else on the track.....compared to playing in full pads, helmet, football shoes etc on GRASS.

Why is it that ignorant people still ignore what people do on the football field in favor of what they do on a track or in a weight room?
