WR Emeka Egbuka (All B1G, All-American)

Dude is flying under the radar.
Not expecting him to have stellar numbers next year as he's probably 3rd in the WR pecking order.
I do expect some big-time YAC his So year leading to some big-time numbers his Jr year.

I see a JSN-esque leap this year from Emeka. Much like JSN his freshman year, you saw the ridiculous talent but just needed another year and less talent in front of him on the depth chart.

I think it depends on what they do with JSN. If he moves to the perimeter from the slot (like Garrett Wilson did) that leaves a space for Egbuka to go wild and stack up huge stats exactly like JSN did.

If JSN doesn’t make the move, that likely means fewer reps for Egbuka, but you never know, Egbuka still might emerge as a primary target on the perimeter even with JSN still in the slot.

I think Egbuka's successful inside or out. Maybe he's used at both to maximize his reps and maybe we really go six deep this season. Good problem to have, of course. I've seen nothing but real, not just potential, talent from him.

Yeah, I think he'll rotate with Flemming on the outside, and then will also give JSN a breather or switch spots with him to take advantage of a matchup. Should be a really versatile group. Only thing they're missing is a deep threat. Maybe Ballard can step into that role.

Small sample size but at speed on returns and in the few deep pass plays I've seen, EE seems to move pretty well. 1926 raises a good point, though, it's difficult to attack the middle of the field on crossing routes if you haven't pulled some of the defenders back and made the safety(ies) wonder. Do we have someone like that this season?

15-347-3 in the Rose Bowl.

The old me would’ve looked up how many receivers in the country had a month (any month) during the season as good as JSN’s January.

Now… suffice to say… not very many

If Emeka can have 3 months that good this season, I’ll be more than satisfied

“Last year was a great year for me,” Egbuka said last week. “I mean, I got to sit behind guys like Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon and really just learn from them. And I know how great of careers they're gonna have in the NFL, and just to have those guys as my big brothers guiding me along the way was the best thing I took out of last year.”

“I mean, you can't walk into our wide receiver room and not get better,” Egbuka said. “You're faced with guys like Jaxon, Julian, Marv J.B., (Xavier Johnson), Sam (Wiglusz), Kam Babb. Everybody in the wide receiver room, even the new guys are great, and they're pushing you to limits that you've got to exceed. And we just all lift each other up and it's a constant competition. Like, 'Oh, I can run this fast. I can jump this high.' You're just climbing that ladder and you're getting higher and higher and that's what's so great about being in a wide receiver room that's so talented.”

“Coach Hart told me coming in that I'd be playing a little bit of everything,” Egbuka said of his recruitment. “Last year, he thought my best spot would be in the slot backing up Jaxon, and just developing my skills in the slot because it's a different skill set than it takes on the outside. I played a lot of outside in high school. So developing those slot skill sets helped me launch into this year, so I'll be able to come into this year playing all three positions.”

“I see myself contributing wherever I'm needed,” he said. “So wherever they put me on the field, even if that's running back, quarterback, tight end, I'm just gonna do my thing, do something special when the ball's in my hands and that's all I can ask for.”

I think he’s going to break out next season. And not just at WR, but in the return game as well. I also think he can inside and outside, which can only help his chances to see the field.
