WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

LOL ....18 passes for 100 yards in 3 minutes would be some kind of record!!!!

3 minutes? California Sports Writers usually are better than this.

Dude, I was at the game he got hurt when about 7 Mission Viejo players brought him down when he tried to take off up the middle. He was face down for about five minutes, he got up with help and was assisted off the field. Couldn't tell what the injury was. I left at the end of the 3rd Quarter because Grant didn't return. Also Konrad the TE wasn't that impressive blocking or getting open. Does have good hands though. Moline (UCLA verbal) is a beast running the ball and their (Mission Viejo) QB played great. On Defense their linebacker Will Taylor had some huge hits and made about 19 tackles kids a player.

I hope Grant is okay, for the short time he played the kid can throw a lot better than I had anticipated and played tough. Just didn't stand a chance against Big Red's defense.

If I find out more I'll fill you in.

injury update

Grant left the MV game in the 2nd quarter with what appeared to be a broken collarbone. X-rays at the hospital and then today revealed no break but what is in fact an AC separation of the right collarbone/shoulder. He hopes to return next week and has a team of specialists working on him towards that goal. Whether he plays QB immediately upon his return will just depend on how well he can throw with the pain that will accompany. This injury usually takes 4-6 weeks for complete healing. He can play WR, RB, DB and return kicks, if not, and would be just fine with that. In fact, he'd be happy to just play DB!:wink2: He makes plays whenever he plays defense and that's his preference anyway. His team really needs him to play QB though if they are to make a run at and or in the play-offs. Thanks all for your well wishes!

lagunasurf - I guess I will ask the obvious, but awkward question: Will the injury impact Grant's unofficial offer? I wouldn't think so, but ....

Also, is Grant going to wear a harness or brace under the shoulder pads?

I am rooting for Grant to close the deal with the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes need young men like him.

Grant's offer is official and unaffected by the injury. He will likely wear a spider upon his return. A harness is probably too restrictive. That being said, whatever is needed to insure safety will be used. The feeling right now is that Grant would like to take at least 2 if not 3 official visits. Though it would very much seem to be down to a couple schools. Ohio State remains his #1 choice. There are others that are very much in love with him too. And he will likely take some visits before making a commitment. Any players need to know, at least feel like, they are a high priority to the staff and know what their plans are for him. Not to worry, nothing has changed as far as the way Grant feels about tOSU. These are just realities that must be considered.

great news that this doesn't change anything. did he and JT ever end up talking?

I second Mili's notion that I am selfishly looking forward to seeing him more at safety for a little while.

Got a copy of Grant's tape in the mail today, and posted four clips in the first post of the thread. I have two more clips to make and post tomorrow night, and will make more once I finish watching the tape (only had time to watch the first 40 minutes of the tape).

Grant is flat out just fast man. One of those touchdowns he just flys right past everyone it looks like someone sped up the films and left everyone else in slow motion. Great agility and moves as well. Looks like he still has a great arm as well. Hoping he is a buckeye soon.
