Ray didn't do anything extremely serious...not related at all to drugs, alcohol, the police, or violence...just a kid who needed to be reminded about the expectations in JTs program.
cool, thats good news (i suppose).. hopefully he'll get back on track and won't have an issues further on down the road.. thanks for the update grad

I hope it's just you (and Magua). With Small back there to "block" for TG, we pretty much negate the purpose for having 2 guys back there.

not necissarily, you don't need a pancack block to spring a punt return. go back and watch gonzo's "block" on ginn's punt return against scum light. if you watch gonzo really didn't even lay a hand on him. his presence alone as a potential blocker forced the gunner to alter his angle and he took himself out of the play. small might not be capable of that even. i honestly don't know. ive seen very little of him this season. assuming he is in trouble for something i doubt he will get a shot at special teams this season. though it doesn't explain troy's armband... that would indicate some form of family problem.

either way, gonzo is out there because the coaching staff thinks he is the best guy for the job, imo he is certainly capable. i just like the idea of people kicking to ginn jr and the guy ginn sr. says will be better than his son.

In other personnel news, Tressel confirmed that OSU wide receiver Ray Small was held out of last week's game for an infraction of team rules, but will play this week against the Gophers.

Small should get a spot on KR and PR

I'm sure we'll see 2 back against michigan and the bowl game. Typical Tressel to unveil more and more as the season moves on.
I would love to see Small as one of the two. Rumor has it that he's taken several to the house in practice this season. Gonzo has the speed but seems to loose balance easily when trying to put a move on someone (except for the Iowa game :) ).

I talked to Ray after the game and asked how his head was, and his own words were, "I'm straight." but man he looked like he was walking a little slow and in some pain (as anyone would be). And his mom also said that he was really hurtin. But it was just good to see him walk away after that hit and even better to see him walk out of that locker room after the game.

I gotta believe he won't play in the next two games at least...hopefully he'll be available for scUM.

Not much the defender can do when the offensive player is coming at him as much as he's coming at the WR.

Agreed. The hit was clean. It just goes to show how bad the call against Richardson in the Texas game really was.
