WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

He could be a good H back, but with all the talent that is on offense he might not see alot of playing time unfortunately. It is a good problem to have.

HB- overloaded
WR- Sanz, Posey, Carter, then maybe Flash.

Plus we have been using alot of FB due to the running ability that we have. Sucks though... I had hopes to see him breakout.

Its a shame, because I'd love to see this kid on the field and get a good number of touches, but those WR starters are very solid. He could probably play in the 4WR sets and take over Small's place but that doesn't see much PT. Maybe they'll use him reverses or screens, but that may be a little far fetched. Here's hoping he works out the kinks in his WR fundamentals and gets on the field a little more than just special teams.

Seems like we might get to see what Thomas has got earlier rather than later...with both Carter and (likely) Small out, I don't see who else would come in over him. At worst he would split time with TWash.

Hey guys, I was out of town for the weekend so I didn't get a chance to post this until today. I was told by a very reliable source that Lamaar Thomas is strongly considering a transfer to New Mexico to be with coach Mike Locksley, who recruited Thomas to Illinois when he was the offensive coordinator under Ron Zook.

Nothing set in stone yet, just what I'm hearing.

I am almost positive it was Locksley who had a strong relationship with the Thomas family that went way back... something in the form of the Locksley family used to babysit for the Thomas family, or something along those lines. Would not surprised me at all. I don't believe Lamaar has emegered as a WR like they thought that he would. He has the chance to, he is still young, but I believe he is under the impression he isn't being given then chances he thought he would.

I think Thomas's reps are only going to increase in the bowl game, especially with Carter/Small out. He maybe considering transfering now, but I think his attitude will change after the bowl game. He has alot of potential and just needs to transfer it onto the field.

I think that a solid bowl game performance will go a long way to getting Flash into the #3 spot next year. With Duron's indiscretion, there is no guarantee that he will come back and take over the spot that he left. Tressel doesn't work that way, and I'm sure that he will let Flash know about that.

He certainly needs one, because if he doesn't progress he has several young Bucks waiting right behind(Fields, Jackson, the arrival of Williams, Brown and Louis), and they're hungry for PT!

Unfortunately an increase in reps won't actually mean an increase in touches.

If he is the 3rd WR covered by a safety, nickel back or LB he will be open enough to warrant those touches. I just hope he makes the most of them.

AND pass protection AND a QB making that read...lots has to happen first but our 3rd WR hasn't had many touches all year long (and especially against our better opponents). Carter had 1 (yes, 1 total) reception against USC, Wisky, PSU, Iowa, Michigan combined.

If anyone gets more touches, I look for it to be Saine.

But we can hope, right? :)
