WR Santonio Holmes (Super Bowl XLIII MVP)

They do have insurance policies for returning players, however.
while a college player definitely has the option of taking out an insurance policy if the insurance company deems the player worthy, the policies are not inexpensive. policy premiums run on an average of about $15k for $1m for 1 1/2 years. many players' families have nothing to mortgage nor no collateral against which to take a loan. needless to say, many players and their families don't have $15k just lying around, either. even though many players face these obstacles of securing the amount for a premium, interestingly (please apply the sarcasm font), truly worthy players can often find the money for the insurance premium. banks and "banks" are often friendly.

I've gotta believe itt would be pretty easy to get a 15k loan for something like that...

Also, If i could leave school early and start my carrer as an engineer, i would be gone... Best of luck to Holmes.

yes, it is rather easy, but you may be surprised to see how stingy banks can be sometimes, even when it seems like a win-win proposition. banks often consider worst possible scenarios, such as the player nullifying the payout of the policy by self-inflicted wounds, run-ins with the law, and other issues. banks would be worried about maurice clarett reincarnations.

After the game, as the team lined up for Carmen Ohio, Block O started chanting "ONE MORE YEAR!!" to Santonio. He waved back and smiled a lot, even tried to calm them a bit but he never showed any signs of wavering. He certainly looked touched by the attention and we all know it has to be tugging on his heart.

But as stated by many before now, he has kids to think about. He's been here for four years now and the scouts know what he's capable of. He'd be silly to stay knowing the dough that awaits him in April.

Santonio, we'll miss you. Come back and see us one day as an honorary captain or something. Good luck in the league and make Buckeyenation proud.

No I don't, not because of where Holmes is, but just the list period.

No Hawk?

And 3 of the top-5 are USC players?

No Hawk?

With Reggie Bush and Lienart being 1 and 2?

No Hawk?

There is a scUM player in there?

And did I forget to say NO HAWK?

As I see it, Holmes should go late first to early second. He's the type of WR that should have a lot of success opposite a top-tier WR e.g. Nate Burleson - looked awesome with Randy Moss getting the attention, but not so hot this year as the top guy.

This year is kinda weak at WR, so that helps him. Still, I don't see him going top 10.

Seems the NFL doesn't like to take LBs all that high. Carpenter is in a good position because he seems like the en vogue DE/OLB hybrid that fits the 3-4 real well. On that alone, I think he could go ahead of Hawk.

I see holmes as a Torry Holt/Derrick Mason/Steve Smith type of wide receiver. IF he was a few inches taller, he'd be top 10 and probably top 5.

I'm amazed Tye Hill, Gabe Watson, and Michael Huff are in the top 10 there. They're all good, but not top 10 type of guys. Especially without Hawk on that list.

Regardless. Holmesy was a thing of beauty since his first game vs Indiana in 2003 when he was getting open every which way and could've scored 3 TDs fumbling one or two through the endzone. As a fan I was smitten with the Belle Glade product.

Looking forward to incredible production from mr dukes who I watched explode in his HS Outback All-Star game at Royal Palm HS a couple years ago. The dude can sky, and fly. Life is good as a south FL Buckeye fan. The exposure OSU is getting down here is ridiculous this year. You'd think OSU was the local team.
