WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

No one knows how TP will react to D-1 ball in the fall.....most would like to believe he will be given a package to run to utilize his abilities and I believe on this tOSU team he will be a force in that role, much like Tebow in his freshman year. He could turn out to struggle much like Young, but with the talent around him, I am thinking he will find some success in that role next year.

Pryor was just featured in a segment on Gameday. He used the word "Juggernaut" to describe himself, and said that he wants "to make it impossible for them not to play him" at Ohio State.

He said that the best player that he's been compared to is Vince Young. He says that he doesn't like to be compared to other players, but can't complain about being compared to VY.

He said that given the choice between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning he'd take Brady, and that he admires his poise.

so he is humble? English is your friend, or should be.

As for the topic, Troy was pretty similar at that age, n terms of swagger. Not sure he ever lost that, just what he said publically.

Extent of Pryor's role will be pivotal question
Sunday, April 13, 2008
By Rusty Miller, The Associated Press
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- When blue chip recruit Terrelle Pryor signed with Ohio State last month, some Buckeyes fans assumed he would show up and take over as the starting quarterback.
Don't count on that.
The Buckeyes already have a starter in fifth-year senior Todd Boeckman.
The opener
  • Game: Ohio State vs. Youngstown State.
  • When: Aug. 30.
  • Where: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio.

Nobody's saying that Pryor, the Jeannette High School prep star who was rated the top recruit in the country by many analysts, won't play for the Buckeyes this fall. He might even have a prominent role.
But those who think the incoming freshman will unseat Boeckman are downright delusional, tight end Rory Nicol said Thursday.
"How many of those people really know what it's like to run an offense?" he said. "Todd's our quarterback. I'm not saying Terrelle Pryor's not going to get on the field, but to think that that kid could come in here and run our offense -- you're out of your mind. No freshman can do that. Not here. Not with the way we run an offense."

There's just one Vince Young
Jim Naveau - Apr. 16th, 2008
COLUMBUS ? To be fair, Terrelle Pryor never asked to be called the next Vince Young.

He never proclaimed himself the next Vince Young. As far as we know, he does not have any sweatshirts in his closet with ?The Next Vince Young? imprinted on them or dress shirts with NVY (Next Vince Young) monogrammed on the cuffs.

But the Ohio State quarterback recruit has been constantly compared to the former Texas All-American, now the starter for the Tennessee Titans. If you had a dollar for every time he has been called the next Vince Young, you could fill up your gas tank without wincing even a little.

Close to half the questions OSU?s starting quarterback, Todd Boeckman, answered during an interview session last week were about Pryor.

But before anointing Pryor the next Vince Young, it might be a good idea to study the first Vince Young.

FVY (First Vince Young) came out of high school with much the same multi-sports highlights resume as Pryor.

Pryor passed for more than 4,000 yards and rushed for more than 4,000 yards in his high school career in Jeannette, Pa. He was a basketball star. He was ranked the No. 1 recruit in the country by several recruiting gurus.

Yeah I agree, I hate it when someone is supposed to be the next anyone! I honestly would be fine with this kid not playing at all his first year and just learning the playbook. He's coming to school with all of this hype from playing HS level competition. It's nice that he was ranked #1 and has all of this pub coming in, but honestly publicity doesn't mean anything when you step on the field, and the level of competition he will be playing is top notch(even if the Big ten's not that strong now). Antonio Henton can do pretty much everything this kid can do, and he knows the playbook better! It's nice comparing him to Tebow and VY, but honestly he's gonna be just another worm shit freshman, who can't find his way to class, and is inevitably gonna screw up A LOT in practice, and that 's what you expect from a freshman. I'm not saying one day that he can't be the best player in College football, but we should be patient on it, and stop wanting this kid to startm or be the next Vince Young. Because he can just as easily turn into Ronald Curry as he can VY!!!

I think rational fans will remain patient.

Ted Ginn had a lot of hype coming in and he didn't really do much until the second half of his freshmen year. It is rare these days to have a Freshman perform a key role (on offense).

I could see him getting some mop up duties against MAC teams but I would be surprised to see him take a snap in the second half of a game that is still in doubt.
