WR Terrelle Pryor ('10 Rose, '11 Sugar MVP)

Pryor ends practice with wrap on throwing arm

Oh - so we're talking soreness.

I thought it was a piece of evening wear.

Hopefully its due to his arm adjusting to a (more) proper throwing motion.

That said, should Pryor need to sit an offensive series, I have full confidence that Bauserman can run this offense.

What - we have a game next Saturday?

Good lord, it's only April. He probably has some tendinitis, which might be more from lifting than from throwing.

I'm sure he'll be fine by August.

FWIW, though, I hope Joe B gets quite a few series in the first four games (excluding USC)

JT said during his Big Ten teleconference today that TP probably just "overdid it a little bit" with throwing the ball last week, and he should be OK to practice today.

Buckeyes' Pryor fine after overworking arm
April 14, 2009
Posted by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg

Ohio State starting quarterback Terrelle Pryor missed two or three practice periods Friday but should be fine after having what head coach Jim Tressel described as a tired throwing arm.

Tressel said Pryor didn't appear on his medical report Tuesday morning and should be fine for practice Tuesday afternoon. The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year reportedly had his elbow wrapped at the end of Friday's practice.

"He'd been doing so much throwing," Tressel said on the Big Ten spring coaches' teleconference. "He's one of those guys, he's just an extremely hard worker. He just overdid it a little bit. ... I assume he'll be fine."

Pryor should be good to go, uh, throw
When Terrelle Pryor had to retire from practice the other day, obviously dealing with discomfort in his right (passing) arm, a buzz went through onlookers in Ohio Stadium. But Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said today Pryor's problem was nothing more than a strain probably brought on from throwing too much this month.
"I think he had been doing so much throwing -- he's one of those guys that he's in there throwing the ball in the indoor (facility before or after practices), an extremely hard worker, and I think he overdid it a bit," Tressel said.
"I saw the medical report this morning and there was nothing on there (saying) that he wouldn't be able to go today (for practice). So I would assume he will be fine. I think he just had a little overuse."
In its own way, the coach said, it's a lesson for Pryor on the rigors of the game.
"You talk to your guys a lot about taking care of their bodies, and quarterback is the extra thing with taking care of that arm, because there is a lot of torque when you throw the ball," Tressel said.

Read that everything should be fine with Terrelle. Just getting as many reps as he can. Gotta love the dedication at getting better.

Never underestimate the heart of a champion. It seems he has a knack for winning championship rings. With Terrelle as our starting QB, we will be a tough out in every game we play with him from here on out. I know I wouldn't want to try to stop him. Look out college football world, Terrelle Pryor is about to have you in the palm of his hand!

Is it 9/5 yet?

OSU football notebook: Pryor makes grade as student, leader

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

When Terrelle Pryor left practice Friday because of a sore passing arm, everybody in attendance noticed. The Ohio State sophomore quarterback knows his every move is being watched, and not just by outsiders.

That's why he said it was important that he was eligible to rise during a recent team meeting when coach Jim Tressel asked players who had a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in the winter quarter to stand.

Pryor said the No. 1 quarterback should be perceived as a leader in all aspects.

"If the team is seeing me not stand up then that's a problem, the way I look at it," he said. "You know, 'Why is our starting quarterback not standing?' Maybe they're not thinking that, but that's the way I think."

Pryor was hardly alone when he stood. Forty-six other players made the grade, too, Tressel said.

Senior offensive lineman Jim Cordle, also among those standing, liked seeing Pryor on his feet.

"It is great that a guy like that takes pride in his academics, because obviously he's talented and he's going to make a lot of money in the pros and not have to worry about academics," Cordle said. "But when a guy like that worries about it, that puts into perspective the kind of person he is and that he takes pride in his work. It really helps him be a leader."

Are there any vids of any of the spring practices? Or could anyone who's been to one tell if his throwing motion looks any different?

If we had any video, they'd either be in this thread or in the video clips forum (only last year's highlights have been posted in either place since spring practice started).

Ohio State football: Pryor disgusted by what he didn't know last season
by Doug Lesmerises

D.L.
Terrelle Pryor, bigger, and, he hopes, better.Terrelle Pryor is seven or eight pounds heavier, all muscle he said, pushing him up to 238 pounds, and the Ohio State quarterback said he's also a whole lot smarter than a year ago.

"It just disgusts me," Pryor said today, laughing as he talked of watching film of his play from last season. "I can't believe I didn't know that, but now I know it.

"If I would have known these things I know now, it would have been so much easier. Once you know what the defense is doing, it's a whole different ballgame. And that's how I look at it right now."

As far as his throwing mechanics, assistant quarterbacks coach Nick Siciliano said Pryor doesn't throw out of the right arm slot all the time, but no one does. He said all the work with Pryor's throwing has been with his footwork, not with his motion.

Throwing more than at any time in his life, Pryor said his arm has been sore, but he's been icing it and resting it whenever he can.

"It's been a little bit sore, nothing major," Pryor said.

"We're going to improve, me as an individual and us as a team," Pryor said. "So you don't have to worry about that. We're definitely going to improve and get after it."

PRYOR SPEAKS:

First off, the man is a rippling ball of muscles. He said he's gained 7 or 8 pounds of muscle in the offseason and now weighs 238. He could grace the front of a fitness magazine.

-- I thought he sounded a fairly tough tone. He said "we have some teams we owe stuff to" and sounded downright disgusted at a three-loss 2008.

-- He also referred to being disgusted watching himself on film at times last year, because now he knows the system and reads defense better and would know what to do with the ball.

-- Does not think he has any throwing-motion issues, is more concerned with correcting some faulty footwork and hip-turns. Assistant coach Nick Sicialiano also downplayed any issues with throwing motion and release points. They are not worried about it, rather their thought is improved footwork and greater understanding of where to throw the ball with pay big dividends this year.

-- Simply said he was a little sore-armed last week, nothing more serious.

-- Is determined to become a better passer because OSU has playmakers, "that need the ball. I have to feed them, they're hungry."

-- On the criticism of OSU's offense and coaching staff, he said he doesn't listen to anyone outside the locker room. He called the coaching staff, "perfect."

-- I'll have a full story on Pryor's remarks in the Dispatch tomorrow -- that is, if I'm not so late getting the story in that I get fired....gotta go.

Ohio State's Pryor looks for payback this fall
April 16, 2009
Posted by ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Terrelle Pryor didn't identify them by names, but he had a message Thursday for USC and Penn State.

And if Ohio State somehow ends up in a bowl rematch against Texas, the Longhorns might want to listen up, too.

"There's some teams out there that are waiting for us," Pryor said, "and there's teams that we owe some stuff to. We're just going to bring it."

A Sept. 12 clash against USC at Ohio Stadium and a Nov. 7 trip to State College are undoubtedly circled and underlined on Pryor's mental calendar, but the Buckeyes' sophomore quarterback is locked in on spring practice, his first as a college player. The reigning Big Ten Freshman of the Year insists he's a better quarterback, a smarter quarterback and a more technically sound quarterback right now.

He's throwing the ball with greater zip and trying to improve both his footwork and his throwing mechanics, which were often criticized throughout an exciting yet erratic freshman season in 2008.

"Wherever you're going with the ball, you've got to make sure your footwork and everything is smooth," Pryor said. "I'm trying to work right now on my hips, not twisting my hips when I throw. That's going to come with a lot more reps, but I got a lot better at it. ...

"You can't play this game without using your athletic ability. But also, if you've got the best athlete ever in the country, and if he's playing quarterback and if he can throw it a little bit but he doesn't really study in the study room, watching a lot of film, he won't be really successful."

The first thing he need improvement on is reading defenses, if he has succeeded in becoming much improved then that already wins games.

Pretty sure it was Ballard wide open down the seem against State Penn that would have been a walk-in touchdown had Pryor seen it.

But good god he got huge. I mean, the kid was big to begin with... seriously though, good luck trying to tackle him as a DB.
