Yahoo accusations against SEC

Remember when Fluker's twitter was "hacked" back in April?

Seems like a big bombshell at first read but I seriously doubt much will come of this, unless someone can prove the schools/coaching staffs knew about the payments. Tenn/MSU might get docked a couple scholarships and/or may have to forfeit some meaningless wins. They are currently on probation and may get punished worse than Alabama because of this. Alabama is the only school that really has anything to lose. Alabama would have played with an ineligible player for their 2012 championship season. However, I can't see the NCAA taking a championship away for one isolated (it is to them) incident - Again, unless it can be proven Alabama was aware of the payments.

Exactly. Tressel should have instead taken an NFL job and the University should have done everything it could to not cooperate.

Disagree. Turning ourselves in, cooperating and firing Tressel are things that might have not been smart from a football perspective, but they were absolutely the right call from a university perspective. Ohio State can still hold its head up as being a university first and foremost, something the Oregons and Bamas of the world will never be able to do.

Unless they can prove Saban or someone in the administration knew about this, they won't face sanctions. Vacated wins however are entirely possible. (I only heard about the article and will be reading it tonight, so as far as I know it's only the players were proven)

NCAA is scared shitless of the SEC for some reason. Between this and the Johnny Handcramp debacle, I'd be preparing my anus if I were Minnesota or Purdue.

Right. The problem with the "don't cooperate" scenario is the following (and I'm not saying these are right or wrong in any context):

1. JT didn't delete the email(s).

2. Ohio State complied fully with that FOIA request that found the email.

3. Like any good Mafia Don will tell you, if they don't got it on paper or tape, they don't got nothin. Pedterno ruled Slappy Valley for 60 years without writing anything down. Same with Switzer and Bobbah at Free Shoes. Ohio State had everything on paper and in the archives.

So while JT could have skipped town, Ohio State was screwed either way and had to comply. Part of it is because Ohio State always has a huge target on it (that comes with being successful and having a large fanbase/alumni base because to news people that translates into readers), and part of it is because by and large Ohio State as an organization will play a straight game when it comes to NCAA rules and regulations and when it screws up, it will admit to them.

BTW I'll shocked if anything comes of it. There's no way these weren't anything but straight cash or word of mouth type scenarios.

There was plenty of paper trail in the Yahoo article. However it mostly likely will never be proven the schools knew anything about his. Therefore, the punishments will be forfeited wins/scholarship reductions at worst.

Did you check out the article? There's itineraries, receipts, a trail of texts and emails...it's not very disputable.

 So? Cryami had people getting abortions for Christ's sake at the booster's behalf and nothing will come of that either. If the schools were involved, there won't be ANYTHING found that connects them directly to the payments and benefits.

I doubt that will even happen. Probation for using ineligible players at worst.

I thought the Miami investigation has (so far) gone nowhere because the NCAA violated some rules while investigating.

2 years bowl ban and scholarship restrictions already. Just because they were self imposed and because they sucked doesn't mean they weren't considered part of the sanctions.
