I agree, I'm just not seeing the solid connection in the article between what the players and "boosters" did and the University. I'm not even certain we can be sure that Tressel knew about this stuff that was going on at the tattoo parlors, but either way, he's gone. There's no way the evidence should lead the NCAA to hammer Ohio State. Unfortunately because there is enough of an ignorant national outcry, it seems that if the NCAA does what it should in giving OSU a lesser punishment than it gave to USC, people (including the media who have blown this out of proportion already) will go nuts.

Nationally it will, just like it has with Woody. It's unfortunate the number of people under the age of, oh, 40 or so, when you mention Coach Hayes and all they say is "Oh, the guy who decked the opposing player, right?"

To which I do not care, as I am sure most here do not. I don't give a shit about what the nation says about us. But I hear you.

Also, why so many unnamed sources? This is huge news if you actually get people to go on the record. If not...well, you look like a liar. I will believe this all when he produces proof and named sources. All of these sources could be Ray Small for all we know.

Fuck em... They obviously aren't thinking objectively. All they see is rules broken, and feel the same punishments should go for all of them. Well, that isn't the case, nor has it ever been. Every case is handled differently. The fact that Ohio State has complied every step of the way, Tressel resigned, the only thing I can see happening is having the 5 suspended players ruled ineligible for the rest of the season.

I'm not dismissing anything, he should have (or the compliance department should have) absolutely known what was going on. But the article brings no new revelations and all in all reads like writer has a vendetta against JT and Ohio State. In other words, its crap.

It's not paranoia if they really are out to get you. :paranoid:

Oh you guys will get your 2010 season wiped off the books also. Actually I'm a bit surprised you guys haven't voluntarily forfeited those games already.

The real bombshell I see in there is the "I get whatever I want" part. If it is learned that these players were allowed to take whatever equipment they wanted, for the purpose of trading for "improper benefits", that is "pay for play" plain and simple and the hammer will fall hard. Seems to me if you've got all this memorabilia floating around with autographs (adding value), including Tressel's, there is certainly a possibility that it was implied/inferred that this was a way to get tats/cash/whatever. I have to really wonder where Tress/Compliance thought all this stuff was going...

I wouldn't be surprised, and personally don't give a fuck, but that's the NCAA's job to decide whether or not to vacate wins, not the universities.

Gotta give the NCAA something to say in August instead of.. "well OSU reported everything to us, we knew all about it, and based on everything we're ok with the punishment they've placed on themselves. Thank you good night"

Me too, buddy. Way too many anonymous sources to take that article seriously.

Jason Whitlock going to town on this on twitter...he's actually agreeing with some of the stuff we're saying

Jason Whitlock Twitter

one of the better ones
What game has the media been watching? F---ing clueless. Tatts for memorabilia is quite possibly one of the more honorable things in CFB.

This is laughable watching SI pretend it brought down Jim Tressel and unearthed something shocking. U gotta be kidding me!!

Best one so far
It's an insult to comedians to call that SI story a joke. Every coach in college football and men's/women's hoops is willfully ignorant

I apologize because I don't watch Columbus news (even though I live in Central Ohio), but:

1) Channel 10 was following Terrelle Pryor for three months?

2) Someone went to Jim Tressel's door today?

Are both of these at least part true?
