The Beginnings of Wedgewood Pizza Columbus
Growing up in an Italian family, in the Youngstown, Ohio area, we were used to a thick ?sliced pizza with fresh homemade ingredients. My grandmother, Angiolina Cercone (from Pacentro, Italy), always made her own dough, sauce and toppings, however, when she passed, since we had no experience making it ourselves, we began ordering from local pizza places. Once we ordered from Fernando?s Wedgewood Pizza, we knew it was the closest we would ever get to my grandmother?s, and we became a loyal customer.
Even after moving to Columbus, I would crave it and luckily my parents would order it for me every time I visited them. I even joked with my father about opening a Wedgewood in Columbus because I still could not find a pizza I enjoyed as much.
So, when my father, Dominic Cercone, retired from GM after forty years, he decided he wanted to do more than just retire and met with Fernando to open the franchise. That was over 2 years ago, and we have been moving forward ever since.
What made us love the franchise even more was working with Fernando, his family and employees, and seeing the passion for creating a great tasting pizza. We also saw his generosity to the community. We share in those passions and want to make this franchise as valued in Columbus as it is in Youngstown. Like Fernando, we believe that even though we only sell pizza, it?s more than a pizza shop. It?s a member of the community, and a place where people can either pick-up or dine-in to enjoy a great tasting pizza without it costing a fortune.
Our family looks forward to serving Grove City and the greater Columbus area, and hope you will enjoy us being a part your community.
Sincerely,
Alicia
