I find it ridiculous that my brother's house sold for twice the purchase price in just around 3 years. He's hoping to ride the trend a little more... purchased a house further out in the direction of new growth as DC and Richmond merge into one large mess. Hopefully it works. I told him I might have to invest in his living room. :)

I continue to totally misunderstand why people continue rebuilding along the coast.

The kick in the nuts is, I end up paying for it when my insurance goes up b/c of the insurance companies taking a hit in Florida.

This area has not had a direct hit by a hurricane in +40 years. Charlie and Wilma came close over the last two years but there was hardley any damage... that's why this area is popular. I'm suprised North Port isn't on there... it's between here and Naples and it's where a ton of the growth is... lots of land were going for 5K at this time last year and now you can't find one for less than 45K.
