Zach Smith (Official Thread)

Find a cool graphic that summarizes this and send it to recruits. Maybe that would be a video of Fisch trying other common things for two years, but not being able to (I'm sure we will have lots of great submissions here). But everyone confirmed my initial thoughts, which were "Come play for a guy that nobody will keep more than two years."

Probably not what you're looking for... but here's some hard info that could go into a bullet-point type graphic. Similar to the one they created.

Jedd Fisch' amazing Assistant Coach career, a Model Candidate for the Peter Principle
2008 Denver Broncos (WR) Offense was 16/32 in scoring. Did not make playoffs (8-8). Not retained after Shanahan was fired.
2009 Minnesota Golden Gophers (Offensive Coordinator) Offense was 100/120 in scoring. Losing record (6-7). Brewster fired part way through next season. Opted for a new job, but Minnesota didn't care to lose him.
2010 Seattle Seahakws (QB - Hasselbeck) Offense was 23/32 in scoring. Made playoffs (7-9), lost in 2nd round. Carroll's first year, OC Bates fired. Took OC job at Miami, replaced by Carroll's QB coach from USC.
2011-2012 Miami Hurricaines (Offensive Coordinator) 2011 Offense was tied 63/120 with Bowling Green. Finished 6-6 (3-5 ACC), self-imposed bowl ban.
2012 Offense was 49/124. Finished 7-5 (5-3 ACC), self-imposed bowl ban.
2013-2014 Jacksonville Jaguars (Offensive Coordinator) 2013 Offense was dead last (32/32) in scoring. Did not make playoffs (4-12).
2014 Offense was also dead last (32/32) in scoring. Did not make playoffs (3-13). Fired - stated reason for mishandling rookie Blake Bortles.
2015-? Michigan Wolverines Will he last more than two years in Ann Arbor? Track record shows he'll jump at first opportunity to return to NFL even if he is successful -- moreover, his offenses have never performed above the 50 percentile, and often at the bottom.

Players Developed: is it possible to argue that a coach whose spent at most 2 seasons with any players has played a significant role in their development? Michigan would have you believe he developed Minnesota's Eric Decker. But Decker posted seasons of 378yds/3TD, 909yds/9TD, and 1074yds/7TD before Fisch' arrival in Minnesota. Fisch' development efforts yield a dropoff from the previous 2 seasons down to 758yds/5TD.
Likely costing Eric Decker money in the NFL Draft.

Assuming Marshall goes pro and Smith doesn't get his medical RS, listed in the article is the 2016 WR corps. Filled with a lot of inexperienced and unproven talent. I'm hoping that Noah Brown can come back from that broken leg, and at worse be a very good possession WR if he can't regain his speed. Speed is something that the WRs have a lot of, between McLaurin, Campbell, Wilson, Clark, Hill and (possibly) Gibson, that's a ton of speed. And Dixon is no slouch either. For those complaining about Meyer bringing in "true" WRs and so many slot dots and athletes, this WR corp is littered with all around WRs and guys who have had multiple seasons at WR now. I'm very optimistic about the WRs and JT.
