“It was a great experience,” Branch told Buckeye Scoop. “I got to meet with academic advisors and professors that gave us a better understanding on the academics and school itself. I really learned a lot. I spoke with Coach Day, Coach Barnes, and Coach Coombs as well. I had meetings with Day and Barnes, which went great. We talked about a bit of everything. The atmosphere at the game was electric from the fans to the game in general. It was awesome.”

Branch also got to spend some time with potential future teammates while on campus.

“I got to hang with some of the commits on the visit,” he shared. “I spent time with guys like CJ (Hicks), Kyion (Grayes), and Caleb Burton at the game. I definitely made a connection with those guys.”

After now taking two visits in about four months or so to Columbus, where do the Buckeyes stand for the talented safety?

“Ohio State definitely remains in my top few schools left,” he responded when asked.

My hope was Alex Grinch’s mediocre track record as a recruiter at OU would carry over to USC. Of course all the excitement surrounding the big move w/ Lincoln at HC may leave that fact futile, as we know how highly regarded the Branch bros viewed SC, and Riley’s presence alone may be enough to sway them, sadly. I’d really hoped the established rapport with OSU was enough but now I’m not so sure and this is a tad nerve wracking. Reaaaallly wanted this one

Southern California vs Columbus Ohio is a tough sell other than Ohio State. Adding a competent coaching staff over there makes things really tough for those kids.

For me, as an adult, I hate California but I've lived to learn that.
