2012 Defense Discussion

Second half versus TSUN.

3 takeaways, a turnover on downs, zero points allowed. Hell, they didn't even let them cross midfield.

How would I rate this defense?

I couldn't care less about the rest of the season compared to how they defended in The Game.

Based on that second half alone, these gentlemen earned the right to call themselves the Silver Bullets.

I don't expect to see any coaches fired on the defensive side of the ball.

Well said sir. They just needed time to get players in their system and to start to gel. We have a lot of youth that got some good reps this year. Our d line loses Simon who will be greatly missed, goebel is graduating and his depth and iq will be missed and imo, big hank is gone. But even so, we will have a very good rotation across the d line that will hopefully provide some a better pass rush than the start of this year. Our dbs should still be very good, grant replacing Howard is an upgrade to me. And can't wait to see Reeves, Murray, Powell and the freshman do work! 12-0 has set up for a bright future

Like most coaching changes this was a learning on the job/first year. Considering all the injuries and youth they had to work with, why would some complain or expect changes? Oh, yeah. Buckeye fans..........:tongue2:

Always interesting to see what happens each year as leaders graduate and new leaders must emerge. Losing Simon and Boren - losing talent...sure. But it's the intangibles we lose that are more of a concern. Grinders with that level of heart aren't easily replaced.

This is the biggest question..Shazier must be that guy..maybe Bryant also. The O will be ok with Miller Hyde and the line.

A lot of questions on the defense next year. Linebackers have to emerge but it makes sense that guys like Perry(who I love) will emerge. We have played a lot of guys on the line so that will help. Guys like Schutt,Washington, Bennet and Spence got major time and proved their ability. Wash and Spence and Bennett are monsters. You build around them. Pittman will play. Then there is that Bosa kid! You dominate in Florida that says a lot.
Corners will have to emerge but Griffin and Grant played well. Hope Roby stays but I wouldn't bank on it. :(
Safety looks solid with Bryant coming on and Barnett healthy.
