COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team fell, 6-4, to Indiana in the opener of a three-game series Friday night at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 16-8, 2-2 in the Big Ten, while the Hoosiers improve to 13-10, 3-1 in conference play.
“They really did a good job offensively,” Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. “They hit a lot of ground balls and it seemed like every one found a hole tonight. We hit some ground balls hard and ended up in three double plays but they took advantage of their opportunities. They’re a very good ball club so give them credit.”
The Hoosiers took the lead off Ohio State starter Ryan Riga in the top of the third. Sam Travis reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on a two-out RBI single through the right side by Scott Donley for the 1-0 Indiana lead.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team dropped both games of a doubleheader to Indiana, 8-2 and 7-1, Sunday afternoon at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. The Buckeyes fall to 16-10, 2-4 in the Big Ten, while the Hoosiers improve to 15-10, 5-1 in conference play.
"I thought we played young,” Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. “We made a lot of mistakes this weekend that younger teams make. The character of this ball club will be very important over the next week. When you face adversity, your character becomes defined and we’ll find out what we’re all about in the next week.”
Game 1
Indiana threatened against Ohio State starter Greg Greve in the top of the first. The Hoosiers loaded the bases with one down on a pair of singles and a walk but Greve bounced back to strike out Dustin DeMuth and got Craig Dedelow to ground out to end the inning.
The Buckeyes took the lead against Indiana starter Kyle Hart in the bottom of the third. With two down, Ryan Leffel and Pat Porter both singled and Josh Dezse followed with a two-run double down the left-field line to score a pair for the 2-0 Ohio State lead.

Ugly wkend for sure. Got our butts kicked all over diamond 21 runs over 3 games. IU has some good hitters but disappointing work by the starters. Going to be a tough battle getting things going in the right direction against Nebraska. Our offense is non existent and that's a huge problem. Poor defense didn't help either.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team posted season highs in runs and hits in an 11-6 win over Ohio Tuesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 17-10 while the Bobcats fall to 5-20.
“We had a tough weekend and it was good to get back in the saddle and play Ohio State baseball,” Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. “I was really pleased with our offensive approach today and our ability to stay back on the ball.”
Ohio State wasted little time getting on the board, plating five runs against Ohio starter Jake Miller in the bottom of the first. Troy Kuhn and Pat Porter led off the inning with singles before an error by Ohio shortstop Tyler Finkler on a ground ball by Josh Dezse plated Kuhn for the first run of the game. After a fly out by Ronnie Dawson for the first out of the inning, Ryan Leffel scored Porter with an RBI double to right and, after Troy Montgomery walked, Zach Ratcliff doubled home Dezse and Leffel before a groundout by Nick Sergakis scored Montgomery to push the lead to 5-0 after an inning of play.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State baseball team topped Toledo, 7-2, Wednesday evening at Nick Swisher Field at Bill Davis Stadium. With the win, the Buckeyes improve to 18-10 on the season while the Rockets drop to 10-15.
“We took care of business yesterday and today,” Ohio State head coach Greg Beals said. “We’ll have a good challenge on the road at Nebraska this weekend. They’re playing well but probably haven’t played up to their potential so far so they’ll be looking to bust out a little bit. We have to go defend ourselves after last weekend because we can’t afford to have two bad weekends in a row in conference.”
Ohio State took the early lead off Toledo starter Ross Achter in the bottom of the first. A Troy Kuhn single, a walk to Ryan Leffel and an error on a ground ball by Ronnie Dawson loaded the bases with nobody out before Jacob Bosiokovic drew a walk to score Kuhn for the first run of the game. Zach Ratcliff then grounded into a double play but Leffel scored on the play to make it a 2-0 game. Pat Porter followed with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch before Connor Sabanosh lined a two-run single to right to score Dawson and Porter to push the lead to 4-0 after an inning of play.

Buckeyes lost 3-2 last night in Lincoln, had a 2-0 lead until late in the game. Sr. Greg Greve was rolling along thru 6 IP. Sure wish I knew why he was pulled after 60 pitches. Lakins is a stud pitcher but he's only a Fr. Too much to ask of the young man to go three innings imo. Too bad Dempsey isn't right this yr. Sure need more options out of the pen. Game #2 is at 3:05 today.
