Big Ten Conference Divisions

Just call them East and West and ignore the geographical inconsistencies. After all, they ignored the fact there were 11 teams in the Big TEN for 17 years.

Get ready for another bait & switch (ala The Game & Ohio State/TSUN in different divisions).

Fans: Gah that logo is terrible and those are the worst division names ever!

Delaney & lackeys: Due to the uproar considering changing the division names.

Delaney & Co pull out all the stops on a media blitz on the new new division names, repeatedly talking about how responsive the conference is to it's fans.

Fans: Umm what about the shitty logo?

*crickets*

Well, one was a shitty idea, and the other was a shitty idea that they already paid a consultant too much $$$$ for the shitiness, so.....

If Delany is that surprised it tells me that A) he didn't hire anyone, he/his staff made this shit up and B) he's completely insulated from the world and surrounded by yes men/women.
Or ...
C) Leaders and Legends was a naming scheme never run by a representative focus group of alumni, ticket holders or rank and file fans.

(or never tested on prisoners ...)

Lakes and Plains still is better than the generic East/West or North/South because it has flavor and character...it's an easy visual. It just sounds "Big Ten"-ish.

As easy as it sounds to us, the Big Ten would still get it wrong and wind up putting Minnesota in the "Plains" division.

This thing needs a good fix, something that will not only keep fans interested but also attracted the major college recruits still - in EVERY major sport.

All of this could have been so easy if the teams were split more logically. I know this has been discussed ad naseum, but come on man. An east division with OSU, PSU, UM, MSU, Purdue and IU, with the rest in the West makes just so much sense and keeps most rivalry games in tact in the divisions.

I have heard Bo and Woody thrown out for names to and I am sure OSU would be in the Woody. Hey Terelle, now that you just won the Woody what are you going to do......

Calling the current divisions East and West would be fine. It's not that big a deal if the schools aren't split down the middle of the Indiana/Illinois border.

The Dallas Cowboys are in the NFC East and the Colts are in the AFC South. :wink2:

And with TCU in the Big East now it just solidifies your argument...

My BS is in Geography and my Masters is in Management, while my Profession has its roots in geography. So. I always laugh at how geographically challenged things are and how folks can't manage their geography....

I do like the team splits in the east and west that would have a natural split like I laid out...
