Disgraced Former Penn State DC Jerry Sandusky (convicted child molester)

Jerry Sandusky trial: Wrestler says he received note, gift from Sandusky, not abuse

A doctor and former Penn State national wrestling champion who met Jerry Sandusky in a gym testified on behalf of the former football great, saying that he got a poem and photo album from Sandusky.

In court, attorney Joe Amendola told the judge it was in response to the testimony of alleged Victim 4, who showed jurors hand-written notes and letters from Sandusky, which the accuser called ?creepy.? The now-28-year-old says he was abused consistently for several years.Dr. James Stanton Martin, however, said he had only favorable memories of Sandusky. He testified the 68-year-old allowed him to live with the family for a month, and when he left, he was given a photo album of the experience.
Inside the album was a poem, thanking him for his friendship. It begins, ?Thanks for the memory thanks for being so warm and friendly.? It was signed by Dottie and Jerry Sandusky and their kids.
Martin also said that Sandusky gave him a watch following the 1996 Penn State bowl game.
Sandusky has been accused of lavishing gifts on those whom he is accused of sexually abusing.

Over on BWI they are really hammering away at the testimony of Victim 1's mom and how she was bragging she is going to get rich from this...there are a few who are openly rooting for an acquittal.

Also the Martin testimony seems borderline ridiculous...anyone with a brain knows what grooming is. Extrapolate and this testimony is trying to somehow suggest that any woman you went out on a date with you definitely slept with, because, you know, the first dates were all the same.

Jerry Sandusky trial: Ex-neighbor of alleged victim says family is after Sandusky for money

The mother of alleged Victim One, the 18-year-old Clinton County teen whose accusations against Jerry Sandusky led to a police investigation in 2009, was called to testify by the defense today and denied ever telling anyone she would get rich off the allegations he son made against the former Penn State assistant football coach.

A former neighbor of the family took the stand immediately afterward and said that he considered the woman a bad mother who forced her son to spend weekends with Sandusky so that she could have weekends alone with friends. One time, he said, he witnessed Victim One resisting his mother?s urge for him to go with Sandusky. Immediately after the argument, he said, the mother approached him and asked how to search the child sex abuse registry known as Megan?s Law.
The neighbor, who also isn?t being identified, asked why, he testified. She replied, ?I just found out (my son) was touched by somebody,? the neighbor testified. ?Her comment was, I?ll own his house.?
Another time, he testified, she said ?When this all settles out, she?ll have a nice big house in the country with a white fence where the dogs can run free.?
On a separate occasion, the neighbor testified that Victim One told him, ?When this is over I?ll have a nice new Jeep.?
The mother denied making any statement about becoming wealthy or getting a big house, when asked by Sandusky?s attorney Joe Amendola.
She was never asked about the argument with her son, although she has told The Patriot-News that she began to get suspicious of her son?s relationship with Sandusky when he asked her about looking up ?sex weirdos? on the Internet.
Through testimony, it became clear that the mother and her former neighbor do not have an amicable relationship.
She accused him of giving her name, address, and phone number to members of the media after she moved in an attempt to avoid the press. She said he ?tried to get money out of me to keep my address a secret.?
When questioned by prosecutor Joe McGettigan, the neighbor said he does not like the mother, and he gave that opinion to a reporter when approached after the charges were filed in November.

Jerry Sandusky trial: Friend says alleged victim made friendly contact with Sandusky family in 2009

A family friend of the Sanduskys who was at their house when the man known as alleged Victim 4 brought his fiance and baby to visit in 2009, testified this afternoon during Jerry Sandusky?s child sex abuse trial.

Elaine Steinbacher said she would often stay at the Sandusky home instead of in a hotel when she would travel to the Centre County area for work because ?I used him as my motivator and my inspiration,? she said. ?I stayed in their home eight to 11 times a year.?It was on one of those occasions that Victim 4 called Dottie Sandusky on the spur of the moment and asked to come for dinner. Steinbacher said she and Dottie had to run to KFC to get dinner to feed them.
?The whole purpose of the visit, to me, was for Jerry and Dottie to make a big fuss over his son,? Steinbacher said.
They stayed a few hours, and it was friendly, she recalled on the stand. ?Just a lovely afternoon,? she said. ?I remember saying to Dottie, ?You?ll see a lot of them. Obviously he?s looking for foster grandparents.??
When Victim 4 testified about years of abuse he?s alleging against Sandusky, he said he arranged the visit in an attempt to appease his girlfriend, who was beginning to ask questions about his relationship with the 68-year-old former football great.
Victim 4, now 28, says he wanted to keep the abuse a secret, but the idea backfired. He testified that Sandusky didn?t leave his side the entire night and rubbed his back during the visit, and his girlfriend became more suspicious.
When police knocked on his door about two years later, he eventually talked and became one of the 10 alleged victims in this case.
Sandusky denies the allegations against him.

Jerry Sandusky trial: Dottie Sandusky says she never saw inappropriate conduct between her husband, alleged victims

Jerry Sandusky's wife, Dottie Sandusky, took the stand in his defense this afternoon.
She testified that she never saw any inappropriate conduct between her husband and alleged victims, but she also said she couldn't think of a good reason why the alleged victims or prosecution witness Mike McQueary would lie.
The children from Jerry Sandusky's Second Mile charity that stayed in the family's house were given the choice of sleeping in the basement, first floor or second floor, she said. She said Jerry would go to the basement to say goodnight to them.
She never heard any screams from the basement, she said; one accuser has testified he yelled for help from the Sandusky basement.
She described alleged Victim 1 as "demanding and conniving." She described another as "very clingy." She said Jerry Sandusky sometimes had issues with boys' behavior.
She described an incident with Victim 1 at the Alamo Bowl where she walked in on Jerry Sandusky and the boy in a hallway area of a hotel room. Jerry Sandusky was upset because the boy didn't want to go to a luncheon they had already paid for, she said. "He was yelling. I know Jerry was mad the way he looked," Dottie Sandusky said.
She also described situations where boys would run up and jump at Jerry to give him a hug.
She said her husband had a very busy schedule, often working late hours, but he would always come home each day for dinner. After he retired from coaching, she said, his schedule continued to be hectic as he traveled often for fundraisers, she said.
Prosecutors showed her pictures of the alleged victims when they were children, and some of them she recognized, and others she did not.

Jerry Sandusky trial: Second psychologist disputes claim that 'creepy' letters were result of personality disorder

A second psychologist, who evaluated Jerry Sandusky on Sunday, testified this afternoon and disputed another psychologist?s claim that the 68-year-old suffers from histrionic personality disorder, and that?s why he wrote strange letters to alleged Victim 4, who was 15 at the time.

?In my opinion, they are not consistent with a personality disorder, in my opinion they are highly manipulative,? Dr. John Sebastian O?Brien II said about the letters.

O?Brien testified right after Dottie Sandusky, and almost immediately referenced what she said -- that her husband was very busy, juggled a family, a children?s charity and a high-profile football coaching job.

?He was an individual who kept all the balls in the air,? O?Brien said. ?I don?t see anything in any of that information to suggest he was a person with a personality disorder that caused him any problems.?

People with this disorder crave attention and are very emotional. It?s difficult for them to develop close relationships, O?Brien said.

"They have a great deal of difficulty being on the sidelines or being an assistant coach," O?Brien said, referencing Sandusky?s job was ?routinely upstaged? by head coach Joe Paterno, both in the public eye and in his job title.

?And it?s a situation that Mr. Sandusky worked in and thrived in for years,? he said.

In addition, several witnesses have testified for Sandusky, saying he is smart and intelligent, but Sandusky wrote in a letter that he was like Forrest Gump, naive and not that smart.

How could he be both?

The answer, according to O?Brien, is not histrionic personality disorder.

?(Personality disorders) are not something that would show up with a particular relationship. They are 24-7,? O?Brien said. ?To sidestep all function of Mr. Sandusky and focus on letters is really inconsistent. It is who you are all the time.?

Jerry Sandusky trial: Dottie Sandusky defends husband, contradicts alleged victims' testimony

Dottie Sandusky took the stand today in defense of her husband, confronting several of the allegations of sex abuse that eight boys have made against Jerry Sandusky.
She was direct. Polite. Her testimony was fairly brief.

At one point, as prosecutor Joe McGettigan took a seconds-long break to sort through papers, she turned and smiled at Jerry Sandusky. He turned away.
She wasn?t pressed on too many specifics. McGettigan and defense attorney Joe Amendola quietly questioned her.
She denied that her basement is soundproof, as alleged Victim 9 said he assumed during his graphic testimony last week, because he said he would scream as Sandusky was raping him, and no one would come to help. Dottie said she goes into the basement several times a week because she has a freezer down there.
She said the family never had a silver convertible, the car where alleged Victim 10 says Sandusky asked him to perform oral sex, but he refused.
She said she shares a bed with her husband, always has, and typically goes to bed before he does.
She said she never saw inappropriate behavior between her husband and the boys -- all but one she acknowledges knowing -- but said that twice she saw Victim 1 jump into her husband?s arms without warning.
She gave her recollection of an incident at the Alamo Bowl with Victim 4. The now 28-year-old says she walked into a hotel room while Sandusky was taking a shower with the boy. Dottie said she saw them, but they were both fully clothed, arguing about whether Victim 4 would attend a luncheon that the Sanduskys paid $50 for him to attend.
She recalled getting the letter from the state in 1998, saying that no charges would be filed after Victim 6?s mom told police that Sandusky showered with her son.
She said that Victim 6 had dinner with her and her husband last summer at Cracker Barrel, and the Sanduskys were pleased to learn that he was taking mission trips and attending Bible college.
Prosecutors ran through pictures of each accuser when they were boys, had Dottie identify them, and she did, smiling at times.
She said Victim 4 ?had his problems.? ?He was very demanding and conniving and wanted his way, and didn?t listen a lot,? she said.
Victim One was very clingy to Jerry, she said. ?He never looked anyone in the eye.?
Victim 9 was a ?charmer,? she said. ?He knew what to say and when to say it,? she said.
The last question she was asked was from prosecutor Joe McGettigan: ?Can you think of a good reason why any of those boys or (prosecution witness Mike McQueary) would lie?"
She shook her head for a few seconds, stuttered and then said, ?I don?t know why.?
