QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

This is great. I definitely welcome Henton. Without knowing much about him as of 2 weeks ago, I believe he can become the 'Smith' to Boeckman/Schoenhoft's 'Zwick', without implying anything about playing time. Tressel likes to have the option of going either way, with a mobile QB/running QB, and this definitely fills a need, without violating the new playbook which I believe will pass with flying colors. I can't wait for the new season, to see Zwick with a fair shot in game #1, with Boeckman hopefully seeing action (because I think this kid is the real deal) and with Smith with a point to prove. Get Henton to the 'Shoe to see what it is we are gonna do...

mike wachtsman on the osu rivals site just posted that he spke with henton sunday evening and henton told him he wanted to discuss leaving the south with his parents to make sure they are behind him in doing so, which henton feels they are.

henton said that he would make it official on wednesday, which could turn out to be a very good day for osu.

I wouldn't read too much into Henton's "delayed" commitment. It is my understanding that JT encourages the kids to think about their decision, talk it over with family, friends, coaches, etc., then finalize the choice. It is quite possible that Henton wanted to commit at camp, but ended up following JT's advice.

I'm thinking 3 at the most right now...possible upgrade to 4 if his offer list grows and he has a big season.
beat me to it.

i believe steve helwagen said on BN that Henton only played aprt of the season at qb last year as he was moved over from another spot, thereby reflecting his stats being a little low.

If Henton has a good senior year, I dont care if he moves one spot in the rankings, osu will know they have a keeper. judging by what folks are saying about his camp performance, osu may have made a pretty good call on that already.

We have just spoken to Ft. Valley Head Coach Rance Gillespie and have learned that Antonio Henton called the OSU coaching staff a little after 4:00 p.m. today to officially inform them that he is accepting an offer to play at Ohio State.

Now Ohio State has a QB for the 2006 class.

Welcome Antonio! You will be a great addition to an already impressive 06 class for the buckeyes...

I think it was more a matter of when than if with henton... kind of like how any site reporting Oden/Conley having verballed is incorrect only in timing...

I just watched this kids videos, I really like the way he moves in the pocket, looks to pass even when running until the last second. He seems to have all the throws too - short, medium, bullets and rainbows down the sideline.

I think we have a keeper here fellas.
