QB Antonio Henton (transfer to Ga. Southern and FT. Valley St.)

Kinda off topic but damn, if Pryor comes here Spring practice in 09 will be the funnest spring game of all time. Kinda weird thinking about OSU having 2 Mobile QB's on the top of the list. It's so... un-OSU like, lol.

Henton has come a long way in the last 2 years, happy he is a buckeye.

I will just be curious to see how a year of practicing will work out with Henton. If you take a look at Troy, JT really got him out of the "Run First" idea and turned him into a great all around quarterback, I think with a year under his belt Henton should be falling into a similiar mold, hopefully his instincts move to check your receivers then, if you have to, run.

I'm not so sure that Henton had a "run-first" mentality. Sure, most of the situations he was put in last year were for him to run the ball and milk the clock, but at least against YSU when they let him do his thing he mixed the pass and run very well and his passes looked sharp. When they allowed him to pass, it looked like he went through his progressions better than Troy did early in his career, and keep in mind that Henton was a RS frosh, not a RS soph.

True, I think the year of sitting will be great for his maturity though, he's had some time to see the speed difference from H.S. to college, as well as see how some running QB's can impact the game. I wish he had been sitting for different reasons than he was, but I still don't think he would have seen that much playing time.

It will be an interesting spring.

All I know is while he may have looked a little bouncy in the pocket, that pass to Taurian against YSU made me giddy... reminded me so much of a troy/ginn hookup. but the deliver was quick, ball was tight and obviously washington has some speed

I just love the potential that Antonio gives tOSU because he is a good passer. If he plays much next year as a change of pace/running option, teams may overlook his passing ability. From the games I saw of his in HS, he is a pass first, move around in the pocket still looking to pass, then run type QB, and this may bite some unsuspecting scummy opponents next year when they expect him to simply run the option or the QB draw.

They will both compete along with Todd for the starting position, odds are a freshman would sit a year for two things, Him to get familiar with his teammates and Tressell to work a system around him. This is Hentons thread so I don't want to go too much into TP, but remember, the kid also wants to play basketball so it would be an ideal situation for him to sit, and play with Matta the first year.
It now seems Tp is backing off playing Basketball now. How do you think this will effect Antonio and his chances of beatin TP out. Assuming we get him. Any chance Antonio switches positions. Thoughts?:oh::io:

Como??? Like him moving to Wr or Cb? Henton was the High School Player of the year in Georgia and took his team as a senior from a horrible start with-out him to winning the State Championship Game after he returned.

I know Pryor is special but Henton has serious game and a running start on any QB coming in as a Frosh.

Pryor not playing hoops will help him develop faster, however Henton moving position is way out there my Brother. If Pryor can pick up the Offense and develops as a passer quickly Henton could really be a transfer candidate, but from some former players it has been said he is the best QB on this team right now and don't be shocked to see him a bunch next year in major game situations.

Thoughts? I think you're on crack if you think that Henton has to beat out Pryor. It's the other way around...
