You must've missed either Moore at Purdue or Taylor at UW last year.
Difference with those two guys was they had big games in their history. Paul did not. This is a guy that was shooting 28% from 3... for the season. And he hits 8 of 10 tonight. This was a case of Paul getting hot for one game. I'd wager he won't get above 25 again this year. Heck, this was only the second time he scored more than 20.

Seriously. It sucks but it happens ALL the time in basketball. Why do you think it's been nearly 40 years since a team last went undefeated?
If you are referring to OSU's last national title that was 1960... 52 years ago. Otherwise I don't know what you are talking about.

are we sure Diebler doesn't have another year left?
People talk about Lighty being missed, but Diebs...

Best post-passer, because defenders were in his face to guard his shot leaving room for a clear entry pass. And Buford is missing that other option that stretched the court and drew 2 defenders- yes, Diebler drew 2 defenders on his side of the court, the way he ran off screens on the baseline especially.

...and perimeter O for that matter as well. There's just no real three point threats on this team.

Yes, that was the next issue. I've said it before in other game threads, but there just are not any shooters outside of Thomas on this team. Buford is ok at times, but he has seriously underperformed in tight games this year.

PG play, offensively, is also an issue in tight games. Craft's inability to shoot the ball + his sudden knack for turning it over late in tight games is not a good sign going forward.

The good news is that the season is still young, and it took a freak performance from a relative nobody to beat the Buckeyes. tOSU will still be right there in the end for the B1G crown, but I won't have insane expectations for the NCAA tournament unless the perimeter D plays better on the road and a proven shooter steps up to make some threes to take double and triple teams off Sully.

/frustration rant

One of those nights where you would almost hate to see the Illinois kid lose (minus the trash talking). Nonetheless, the past several games this has not been a Thad Matta team. Those teams fight you tooth and nail down to the wire. This group plays like a union team with liberal breaks built into their contract.

I almost guarantee Paul will only have about 10 points in Columbus. Just like I'm telling all my Indiana co-workers(I work in Richmond), your beatdown is coming Sunday. Don't be surprised if we don't win by 20 plus in either matchup at home. I just hate it when Matta refuses to call timeouts when teams start a comeback. Why does he always save them until the end?

Indiana was the last team to go undefeated in 1976 unless I'm wrong.
