Rivals Premium Update - 06/29/2004

Chino, Calif., defensive back and running back Shawn Otis, a 6-foot-0 and 205 pounder, is one of the West Coast's top athletes. And as such, it is not surprising he has plenty of colleges in hot pursuit, including Ohio State.
Highlights:

  • Stands at 11 offers
  • Notre Dame and Ohio State will get official visits
  • Took unofficial visits UCLA and Stanford
  • May take visits to Arizona, Oregon, and possibly Washington.
  • Has liked ND and OSU since he was little
  • Being receuited by Doc Tressel
  • Coach Fickell visited Oatis at his school
  • Likes the fact that OSU won the NC recently

Allen Wallace-Insiders premium

article was done by Wallace who is a national writer with no bias toward ND or tOSU-very optimistic comments from Shawn-tOSU and ND are his two solid favorites and both will get official visits. It seems like Shawn has respect for Tress, Coach Tucker and Fickel. He has also discussed tOSU with Ryan Williams. Ryan relays info from tOSU coaches to Shawn. Ya gotta love it :)

It's nice to see the 2002 NC making a difference in the way we're looked at by out-of-state recruits. Both Bemoll and Oatis have mentioned it.

Keep hearing he would be the perfect compliment to AM-W. Hope his interest is sincere. On a side note, interesting the mention of Arizona. I hope Mike Stoops can transform that school into a power. USC needs the competition out on the left coast. That league is a cake walk for USC, both on the field and on the recruiting trails. It would be nice to see the west coast kids show interest in someone other than USC, Texas and Oklahoma.

The Pac-10 is a flavor of the month league when it comes to recruiting. USC is currently top dog, but a few-4 or 5-years ago, UCLA and Washington were the top dogs. California, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington State are all recruiting much better now than they were 5 years ago, and Washington is in a bit of a recruiting slump.
