3.4/May 1 SAT

according to Rivals was offered by tOSU two weeks ago- note it sounds like tOSU is very active in MD (w/Alaeza, McCoy and D. Williams)

tOSU appears to lead over offers from USC, MD, BC, Cryami, Fla & Va Tech

Melvin (along with Joe Akers, another player whom OSU is recruiting from Maryland) was a top 10 performer at the PSU Nike camp. According to the Rivals article, Melvin may be the top DE prospect in the country this year.

Alaeze was named a 5-star prospect by Rivals... he was their first DE chosen.

And rightly so. Melvin is a stud, with superior athleticism all around - this guy could be a fullback in the mode of Ironhead Heyward or Pooh Bear Williams. Best of all, Melvin doesn't rely on his athleticism alone, but he also knows how to play the game - he is smart, reads well, and actually understands the concept of "containment". Unlike some DE's films, which show 20 unabated rushes at the QB, Melvin's shows him playing all aspects of the position; there are even a few clips of him on offense (at FB), where he shows outstanding speed and surprisingly good hands. Melvin would make an excellent addition to this Buckeye class.

In the latest Rivals update Alaeze mentions he is enjoying the recruiting process and he is still not ready to list any favorites. He does however mention he was a Florida State fan growing up and would like to get an offer from the Criminoles. OK, he didn't call them the Criminoles, I did :wink2:
