'05 OH LB B.J. Travers (Iowa signee)

insiders premium

He just got back from USC camp and said it wasn't for him- he wants to play in the midwest. Since he doesn't have a tOSU and scUM offer he is looking hard at Iowa. He is friends with Trey Stross (they live pretty close to each other) and he will be visiting Iowa in a few weeks with Trey.

Remember after Trey committed he said he would try to recruit BJ.

I wonder what the staff saw in him that made them feel that he didn't even warrant an offer? Rivals has him as the #2 LB in the state (#16 overall), literally right behind Lenix (#15 overall). Maybe they feel pretty good about their chances with some of the big OOS LBs.

and maybe they feel they can get back in on BJ before signing day if some of the OOS'ers fall through?? BJ wanted to be a Buckeye, it is not inconceivable to think he would change his mind (ala Marcel Frost) if he had a late Buckeye offer.

It is a long time until signing day....

I think that Mili and 86 are both correct: both Mathis and McCoy have OSU in their current top 2, and Travers might jump at a late OSU offer.

As far as why Travers didn't get an OSU offer yet - just speculation, but his measurables (6'0", 230, 4.87 speed) don't seem to fit the "ideal" MLB profile; however, the kid made nearly 200 tackles last season, so he knows how to play the game.

Anyway, best of luck to B.J.
