'07 FL S Major Wright (Florida signee)

UF lands another top recruit: Aquinas' WrightBY JOSEPH GOODMAN
[email protected]

''I didn't want to wait,'' Wright said. ``If I knew I was ready, then I was going to make a decision. I didn't want to take away a scholarship from anyone else just because I was holding out.''

Ohio State was at the top of Wright's list since the preseason. He said Florida's win over Ohio State had nothing to do with his choice.

''That was just one game,'' Wright said. ``Teams have bad games.''

What can you say, Florida is the flavor of the year. :(
I know! When is our turn :(

You'll never see Ohio State as the flavor of the year simply because we are not--and never will be--a "glamour" school. Look at the recent programs which seemed for several years at a stretch to get everyone they wanted from all over the country: Miami (late '90s-early '00s), USC ('02-now), and now Florida. They all have the "weather and chicks" aura, along with being programs that rebuilt themselves into championship teams. We can win national titles every 3-4 years and still will never be considered a glamour school. Everyone should be glad that Hawaii is 2,500 miles southwest of California...if it were only a few hundred miles from the mainland (and thus not the travel and timezone nightmare it is now), you'd see June Jones with a top-3 class every single year.

Sure it would have been great to get Major. He would have been a great fit for the bucks, but hey, he made his choice to go to UF. I'm sure we will be fine without him. We just got to move on, and its not like we dont have talent on the defensive side of the ball. We should get along fine....

Another stellar outing for Wright, a big forced fumble and a great open field tackle in the short time I watched.

NCAA FOOTBALL I GATORS
Wright making Major impact

Freshman safety has built an early reputation as a big hitter
By MIC HUBER

GAINESVILLE -- First impressions can last a lifetime, and many Florida football players still shake their heads over the imprint Major Wright made early during summer practice.

Just don't ask Chris Rainey. He doesn't recall much about meeting Mr. Wright that August day. But that's not surprising, considering the circumstances.

Rainey had burst through a hole and was headed downfield when the major hit by Wright knocked the chin strap off Rainey's helmet and knocked the tailback senseless.

It was a hit heard around campus, inciting stories that have been told and retold since the collision of the two true freshmen.

"Major's been known to do that," Florida coach Urban Meyer said about Wright's penchant to deliver big hits.

And they just keep coming.

He was laying the wood down on the Auburn receivers...I was flipping between us vs the Sota and Fla vs Auburn.

Major tatooed the running back from Auburn (and the RB had a full head of steam!)
Yes he did! Man that was a hit.

When they said that was Major Wright, I was major pissed he wasn't wearing S&G.
