'08 FL WR/DB Brandon Harris (Miami Signee)

SIGNING ON TV

The national exposure for Dade football players will continue on national signing day.

Booker T. coach Tim ''Ice'' Harris said his son, senior cornerback Brandon Harris, will announce his college choice during a live segment on one of the ESPN networks at 1:05 p.m. Feb. 6 as part of the network's coverage.

Harris said the Tornadoes will have between 15 and 20 players sign with colleges.

''We're going to have our kids there starting around 12:30 and have them be part of the ceremony and then Brandon will go on after that,'' Tim Harris said.

Harris, rated the No. 38 overall prospect in the nation by Rivals.com, had two interceptions in Sunday's South Florida All-Star game won by Broward 14-13.

Harris has more than 50 scholarship offers and said he plans to take an official visit to UM this weekend. He has already visited LSU and Ohio State in recent weeks, and said Sunday he plans to take a fifth visit after the one to Miami.

Harris was named the Gatorade Florida Player of the Year after posting six interceptions, three sacks and three fumble recoveries during Booker T.'s 14-0 run to the Class 4A state championship.

I still don't think we are in the lead or anything, but I kinda think this one going a little while might help our chances, that is of course is guys like Sabino, Howard, and Sweat are still working on him hard, and gives Tress a little more time to build a relationship...

Probably just wishful thinking on my part tho...

Pryor publicly stated that he would have committed to osu on the spot of that's where patrick turner went. Now LSU is somewhat in Pryor's mix after not even being in the picture before Turner committed, so I'm pretty sure that things like that do happen.

That was Patrick Johnson and do you really think he is going to base his college decision on where a kid he just recently met goes? This discussion belongs in the Patrick Johnson thread, if anywhere...

Booker T.'s Brandon Harris will sign his letter of intent live on ESPN.

Brandon Harris had just finished intercepting a pass last Sunday at the South Florida all-star game when it seemed as if he gave fans a hint of his college future.
Harris popped up after the play and clapped his hands in what appeared to be a ``Gator Chomp.''
''It was a quick clap,'' said Harris, who demonstrated his gesture to the media. ``After I made the interception, I taunted a little bit. It was quick, but it was not a Gator chomp.''
Harris' ''unintentional'' tease might have gotten the University of Florida message boards buzzing, but Miami-Dade County's top uncommitted recruit said he still doesn't know whom he will be suiting up for in the fall.
The final two weeks of Harris' recruitment figures to be one of the top story lines in Dade leading up to national signing day on Feb. 6. This year's class has been referred to by many experts as one of the greatest to come out of talent-rich Dade, but the day itself might lack drama.
A total of 18 of The Miami Herald's Top 25 Dade recruits have orally committed. Although there are some, such as Hialeah defensive lineman Corey Liuget (Illinois), Homestead linebacker Marcus Robinson (UM) and Archbishop Carroll cornerback George Baker (Auburn), who are still being pursued by other college football powerhouses to make a last-minute switches.

Update: Harris could bolster already highly rated classes at Miami or Florida, but Hurricanes and Gators fans will have to wait until signing day to learn where Harris is headed. Booker T. Washington coach Tim Harris, Brandon's father and the reigning USA Today national coach of the year, told The Miami Herald that Brandon will announce his choice at 1:05 p.m. on Signing Day.

I read on the home page that he basically shut down aj green, not true IMO. The d line rushing and the lb's blitzing Didnt give the qb any time to pass to anyone. The whole d was good. I went to the game at monks corner berkeley hs. What I seen was he is pretty good though, tight coverage.

Regardless of JT and the staff's success in Florida this year, it is still very difficult to get a south Florida kid to over look "the U" Even when they are down, as they are now, and have been at times between their great success.

The local kids probably like the idea of being one of the ones to lead the resurgence. Sometimes tOSU's best chances are for the kids who just want to get away from something, be it parents, or bad circumstances or whatever.

If a kid loves home and the home school so much, he would probably regret leaving sooner rather than later.

Not saying any of this applies to Brandon Harris, just sayin.
