'08 GA DL Brandon Thompson (Clemson signee)

OK, so this may be another Rico McCoy thing but...


So, I am at the Under Armour game today and i see a guy with an Ohio State hat on... two guys with them actually. Then one turns around and he as a Thomasville Bulldogs windbreaker on. I think to myself, "Hey that's where Brandon Thompson goes to school." It looked like his dad and then an older guys next to him and an Ohio State hat on too. Then he pulls out a hge banner that says Brandon Thompson #34 on it... so obviously I knew it was family now. Anyways, I thought we may get a surprise commit out of this at the game, but obviously he didn't commit. THEN I hear Harmon went to UGA... and wasn't he the kid that Brandon was good friends with keeping him interested in Clemson? Hmmmmmm....

Strange. The Clemson insiders are talking about his Dad wearing a Clemson hat all day...

Clemson To Make Last Pitch To Thompson

 Clemson head coach Tommy Bowden and assistants Chris Rumph and Billy Napier will make their in home visit Thursday with DL Brandon Thompson (6-2 275) of Thomasville, GA. Thompson made official visits to Clemson, LSU, Tennessee, Ohio State and Georgia Tech. Clemson has long been thought of as the leader but LSU has moved in strongly and the decision appears to be coming down to Clemson and LSU.

Thomasville’s Thompson to announce prior to signing day

Thomasville’s Brandon Thompson, listed on Scout.com as the sixth-best defensive tackle in the Class of 2008, confirmed Tuesday night that he will commit to Clemson or LSU prior to national signing day on Feb. 6.

The 6-foot-2, 295-pound Thompson received visits last week from Clemson coach Tommy Bowden and LSU coach Les Miles.

If Thompson has a front-runner, he wasn’t in the hinting mood Tuesday evening.

“In my mind, both schools are pretty much the same,” Thompson said. “I don’t have a leader.”

Thompson has completed all of his visits. He will likely announce his college choice during school late next week.

Man Clemson is putting together some really solid recruiting classes, if they could just put it together on the field they could become national contenders here in the next few years, especially with some of the ACC being down right now with Miami and FSU...

I saw this and couldn't believe it...Clemson's DL is going to be stacked with Bowers and Thompson added to classes of Cumbie, Sapp, Kortnei Brown, etc. and they are loaded across the DL. That Scotty Cooper guy might be glad to have such talent in front of him :biggrin:

Powerfully impressive, indeed! Glad it's the ACC and not the SEC. I got a good feeling about us in '09, though, Simon, Adams....

Watching the Clemson game on DVR...would have loved to land this kid. He has been impressive this year and would help out on the interior. Just like Nate Williams where he is just WAO and will make mistakes...but the motor and strength is flat nasty.
