'08 OH DE/TE Greg Scruggs (Louisville signee)

I think it is a real shame that we have so few schoolies left that we can't fit this kid in, i think he would be a solid contributor to this team.

You have to have good grades to get into St Xavier and also pass an entrance test to even get through the front door.

Talent and grades = a Jim Tressel type player.......

Rivals $

11/7

From the WF site...says he is receiving the most interest from Louisville, Tennessee, UConn and NC State and then talks about his contact with the Wake staff and what factors will lead to his decision.

This was never even a game...but with that said Craig is a STUD and Stanford got a real good one with him...ashley is a pretty good RB and i left hte game unimpressed with Scruggs...he was never really in on any of the plays...again i understand that he is mostly potential at this point I relaly didnt see anything exceptional about him...just my .02

Here's the St. X vs Centerville game from last night: St. Xavier vs Centerville Regional Semi-Final Football | Waycross Community Media

Greg is #5 on defense lining up as a DE (I've only a few minutes into the game and haven't seen him at LB yet).

Just watched the first half.

Scruggs looks a little lethargic and slow off the ball. I guess it's difficult for a rush defensive end to make much of a presence versus an option offense but he could have penetrated a bit better. He thrives in pass rush. That's where he is really dangerous. Certainly, he still has a lot to work on but most of it will come with experience. Greg has many many skills DE's lack naturally. He's got fluid motion along the line and is an athletic speciman. He's going to be a good one no doubt.

Other notes: Craig is an absolute stud. No doubt. Ashley has vision, patience, and balance that is nearly unparalleled on the high school level. He'll compete for playing time early at Louisville. St. X soph QB Luke Massa is going to be a gem come his senior year. His statline v. Centerville: 18-19, 212 yards, 2 TD's. St. X WR #4 Danny Milligan is the best player the rest of Ohio hasn't heard of. Case in point: 3:50 left in the first half. It's a shame he's about 5'8" 155lbs.

In case you didn't notice, the kid is also St. X's excellent kicker, punter (he's been the 1st string place kicker and punter since his sophomore season, and state title season, in '05) and punt returner (as well as WR). He's a great example of a great high school football player who won't be able to make much of an impact in college (aside from his kicking).

The St. X- Dublin Coffman game was on Sportstime Ohio Saturday evening.
It was hard to believe Scruggs just started playing football. When Scruggs lined up over the Dublin right tackle he blew past him on seemly every play.
