'08 OH RB/LB Devoe Torrence (Akron signee, transfer to ??)

Assume he comes in as the only rb.

Wells1 would be a senior. Wells2 would be a junior. I think one out of Herron/Sain redshirts, but assuming both play, they'll be sophomores, and then you have Torrence as a true frosh.

That isn't a thin depth chart. It isn't incredibly deep either, but I'm sure the coaches could get a healthy rotation from that group of players.

Compare the potential depth charts in 2009 (DeVoe's second year at OSU):

RB: Chris Wells (pro?), Brandon Saine (true rb?), Daniel Herron (coming off an '08 redshirt?)
OLB: Ross Homan, Thad Gibson, Tyler Moeller, Brian Rolle, Jermale Hines, Nate Oliver (outgrow SS?), Andrew Sweat (verbal?), Shayne Hale (verbal? MLB?).

Even if DeVoe's best position is LB, it might serve OSU best for him to play RB (as he desires).

Talk like this annoys me because it is not true at all, especially in this case... He may be moved to LB eventually, but he is definitely being brought in and will get his first shot at RB. He may have the potential to be a great LB, but he has the make-up of a stud RB too.

Tressel and co. are always very honest with recruits. If they recruit him as a RB, I am sure staff will give him a fair chance there.

That's correct. Andy Miller has been given an opportunity to play TE but I suspect he will be moved to tackle soon i.e. I think DeVoe comes in at RB and then gets moved to LB eventually.

He's a great linebacker, but I think he can be a star runningback too.

In his scouting ohio video, you can see he has an excellent burst and speed, can cut and change direction real well, and obviously has a lot of power to go along with his running abilities. He didn't look like the typical "linebacker playing runningback" in highschool. Definitely looked every part of a very talented runningback.
